Go for it matey, many hands make light work, 'n all.

i´m making a building atm... its coming forward very nicely
Starting with the "humanoid" kind, i made a cone shaped Skyscraper..
Here is the progress... I imagine that with Shaders i´m going to try and make these have different windows lit... Randomly.. but not flicker...
i´ll look into that later.. atm i´m concentrating on making the buildings..
Conceptual proposals to how bird/frogs/insect/lizards/lobsters buildings should look like are welcome, since i imagine that we are going to use different buildings for each species.
This building is intended to stand without a Dome... it also more an experiement for me to get trained in making a habital building that does not look military, but is used by ordinary civilians..

Looks very good. At first I advise you to make some generic buildings. Do you need textures? I can make some if you want

Great work! Move over Norman Foster

Too 2D, but it looks pretty neat... Please, kind criticism. I have anther one, and if we make a shell shaded/toon/windwaker oolite it would do well...
Don't panic: FSOneblin
P.S. I am chilling out, like you said I should.

Thats just so funny.. i:-) did´nt even know who designed that building, just recalled it from memory..
It was my inspiration for this building...
I guees this is common knowledge in England...

A tad to 2d i think, sphere mapping is somewhat Difficult... search on "equirectangular" maps to get a full explanation...
I read a bit up on it, and came up with this...
there are few colours in this Gas Gaint, i would add more later..
it is also a good thing to use a good paint program like Photoshop

@FSOneblin, try to make your texture 1024 x 512 or at least twice as wide as it is high. To test it rename it home_planet1.png (backup the original first) and copy it to your System_Redux/Textures folder, then when exiting the Lave station you should see your texture wrapped around a sphere in all it's 3D glory.
Griff gives excellent instructions on making your planets seamless here
Griff wrote:Painting out the seam makes a whole world of difference (no pun intended) to the finished planet texture. It's quite easy to do, just swap the left & right positions of the two halves of your texture map so the seam now runs down the middle of the image. now just grab your painting tools and paint it out!
@Frame, Great texture

How would I make it 1024 x 512? I would have to draw a new picture (just play with the air brust, really) to do that. I will try and do that, thou.

I gave up the Cone shaped Building, since i felt, it was to much texture and model, and less functional... also it had a to large texture file IMO 1024 by 1024... and it had about 960 polies....
So i created this instead with a 512 by 512 texture, and about 512 polies...
I Call it An Agricultural Factory.. Its not done, in regard to the uvmap and textures..
But i think its pretty generic, and pretty, and you can even dock with it.. something you could not with the cone-shaped building...
I wonder if i can make the windows tranparent in Oolite though, with shaders,, but i´ll have a look at that later...
BUT are we going ahead with this OXP or are we at a stand still...

I hope not!
If not someone else decides to take up this oxp in a meaningful way, I will restart work on it together with all the brilliant contributors who have already created lots of ideas, some planetary textures and now also buildings ... keep up the good work!
It will, if I should stay the one coordinating it, just take some time, as I want to repair/better a few issues with my first oxp when/after 1.72 comes out, and would come back to the solar systems idea then.
But please, feel welcome to continue contributing useful stuff, perhaps it is a good idea anyways to make something as ooniverse-changing as this oxp a community project that takes it step by step.
For me at least, RL makes my potential contribution time rather small atm.
Really cool building by the way, like the docking port & fitting proportions

Very cool building.
I'm not too interested in the multi-planet system idea, but I love the idea of adding dockable cities to the already existing planets. They would make great targets for raiding
and some should be well defended by plasma cannons and/or missiles.
And fighters of course
