Oh look, it's me reviving old topics again...
Seriously though:
a. Did this go ahead and did anyone get a Mac with Oolite running in store?
b. What are the chances of something like it this year or next?

a. I've certainly run it at Apple Brent Cross. It was an easy way to test if it'd run okay on intel machines.
b. What another meet-up? Sure, someone suggest a date and venue and I'll see if I can be there (I live in London remember).

I've hosted 'Elite' gatherings before, if people want to drag their sorry asses to the Isle of Man (and make it a long weekend bit of a holiday sort of thing).

Give me enough forewarning and I should be able to make it even there.

How about a midlands one?
I'd be happy to organise such a thing. What sort of things would it involve?
Option 1: Get a hall with computers and install Oolite and play whilst chatting, then crash at hotels/houses or go home.
Option 2: Sightseeing, alcohol, food and crashing at hotels/houses or go home.
Option 3: Go round host's house, chat about Oolite, view the splendour of Oolite on Host's computer and other ones that may be brought, drink stuff, eat stuff then go to sleep or go home?
If option 3 is on the cards, I can offer a large garden with BBQ and gazebo in case of rain, but not much in the way of computer space or sleeping areas (wife might object - although I could run it past her).

Don't forget Option 4: see who can still manually dock with the most alcohol consumed. The penalty shootout phase of this competition will be to try and make it to Riedquat station AND dock still in one piece.

Midlands would be FANTASTIC as I live in Nottingham, probably option 3 best as attracts less strange look, allows alkyhol and means no time restraints. My place too small though... Where are you S?

I'm just up the A52 in Derby!
Cool - two midlanders.
Option 4 sounds cool, Winston.
If anyone's up for this, I could start looking for places that would be able to handle a few computers. I'm sure I could maybe convince a mate or two with a sizeable house/spare room to donate it for a weekend or portion thereof. If there's enough interest I'll see what I can drum up, otherwise it'll be a pub jaunt with optional gaming afterwards.
I could probably sleep up to 4 drunken commanders on sofas, floor and spare bed if necessary, and if it would easy travel issues. However, as I said I would have to run it past the wife first...

Excellent!
Didn't realise you were so close!
This Commander can sleep anywhere, drunk or not. I have been known to kip anywhere from storage units to empty torpedo launch tubes!
Any more happy to travel here/Derby?
Also my my main Oolite machine is a laptop so easy to bring with me. Only restrictions I really have is I am getting married on September 2nd, so not around the week before or the following two weeks. It is my birthday in October though, maybe we could sort it around there? Happy to do at start of August if not.

Bah.
I speak as a recent ex-Nottingham commander.
All these splendid people around that I didn't know about. Bah, I say!
