Awesome. I noted that someone added their details to it whilst I was porting the existing users over, so my assumption is that it's accessible. Good good.
Phew.
I hope you understand that LaveCon is currently short one (1) short story and set of minuatures rules thanks to all that shenanigans. Bloody Pinmaps.

Tried to get to the map, but only got to an empty one - is there a login or something I have to go through to see it in all it's glory?
I'll give it another go just in case I'm just using a computer again.

I can get to the PinMaps map and login, but I thought that was now restricted. Indeed when I went in and tried a pin, I got the message about 30 pin limit.
So do I use the 'Google Maps' link given on pg4? If so It asks for a google login - Email and Password. I guess I don't create my own... or do I and then I will see the 'Edit' button that Selezen talks about when I follow his link from pg1
I hate not being a computer

Selezen wrote:OK, in order to try and get round this I'm trying Google Maps again. I've created a shared map on my Google Maps account and shared it with THE WORLD!!!

Give it a try and let me know if you can see it. If so, I'll try and clarify how to add details to the pins.
Once you're in the map, there should be an EDIT button. Click that and you should get a list of the pin points. Scroll the map around or search for your location and it should come up. Then click on the purple pin icon at the top left of the map and it should allow you to place a pin. Enter your details and you're away!.
The sidebar on the left should show everyone's marker. I'm not sure if it will let you edit those markers at the moment (it does for me, but that might be cos it's my own map).
I think you may need a google account for it.
i know this is nearly a year old but when i try this link it automatically logs in as me... and therefore i get a blank map. is this a google plus stuff up? i couldnt even see anywhere to logout !!!

Hm. Apologies - it's been a year since this post (and nearly 2 years since I last visited here - naughty Sel).
Looks like Google has completely changed their custom maps. And as of today it's down for "remodelling". So looks like we have no choice but to start ANOTHER map.
I've created an open one at the following address:
http://www.scribblemaps.com/maps/view/O ... 3US4ObF9uH
The password is Oolite08.
It's not tied to any one account and is a completely open editor. It doesn't look like it's restricted so should allow infinite pins. Let me know if there are any problems...

Hi Selezen,
Not that you know me either, but welcome back and thanks for setting this up again. Given my dodgy internet app skills, I managed to get an pin on the map, so it looks like it's working ok
A tip for the easily frustrated, don't go through IE, I updated the map through Chrome.
Cheers,

Welcome Selezen. I don't know how have I missed this thread!?!
Considering the population on the
Oolite Nightly webpage visitors map let's see how many will go public.
Some instructions
on how to pin your marker on the new Oolite Map:
- Go to http://www.scribblemaps.com/maps/view/O ... 3US4ObF9uH
- Click on "Create A Map" on the upper-right corner of the page
- Click "Menu" from the toolbar and select Load/Import from the options pop-up window
- The Map Id is 3US4ObF9uH (the last part of the URL given by Selezen), leave the "Load" radio button checked and click the "Load Map" button
Now the easy part follows:
- Select the "Move the Map" toolbar icon and Pan/Zoom to the location you want to pin for yourself
- Select the "Place a marker" toolbar icon and select the marker icon you like from the next pop-up window
- Click on the map to pin your marker and fill in a description for the marker in the pop-up window. Put your call sign in the title.
- Click "Menu" from the toolbar and select Save Map
- Add the Oolite08 password, given by Selezen, and click the "Save Map" button
Done!
