What happens is this, I monitor Giles's SVN repo, and merge in his changes into the Oolite-Linux repo. Both the Linux and Windows versions build from the same source tree, so if you have a Windows build environment, you can just keep up to date with what's in SVN and rebuild every time there's a change.

I tend to do a merge at least once a week when Giles is active (sometimes more), I don't like to get too far behind. Merging has become a lot easier since Ahruman brought the two versions closer together (and I really must push on one final step, and make it so that all platforms can be built from the same source tree, it's just getting enough tuits to do the job).

Should be at home this weekend. I'll try and whip out a quick build.

Hello fellow Commanders,

Firstly may I introduce myself, Commander Scoobie. I am an old vet at C64 Elite achieving Deadly Rank (Never quite got to the ellusive Elite  )

May I congratulate Giles on a superb upgrade of the only game to really capture me, the feeling of Oolite is very true to how I remember wasting my childhood. The true class and feel is still there but now the game has been taken to a whole new level.

However, not a complaint in any way at all, but...

I'm afraid the memory use of Oolite is crippling it still, I have 1Gig Corsair TwinX memory sticks running Dual Channel and a 3Gig Pagefile, with Windoze XP sp2.

After aproximatly 1 hour of play the page file space is being used by 100 ish MB jumps every few seconds  utilising all available page file space as fast as I can increase it.

Just in case its any help here is the stderr copy: (I'm sorry its a bit long looks like quite a few errors :? )

Take Care & Have Fun,

As was said earlier, it looks like it could be problems that are fixed by version 1.62+ that are causing the memory gobbling bug.

Nic is going to put a new build together when he gets time, and hopefully that should sort it out.

I was wondering about those 'orphaned' AI's , don't AI's get exited when the entity is ended then?
Is it just the top AI that is exited?
Do we need to include exitAI in deathactions?

I get the memory gobling quite frequently on both home and work PCs.

I also have had what I assume to be two or three crashes, when Oolite just closes itself.

When the freezes start it's time to use witch space injectors or the torus, to get docked and saved before it locks up completely, followed by shift Q and starting again. Have lost scores of kills because of this.

How does one extract a crash log to send to the wizards?

I wouldn't bother for 1.60 - those problems were fixed in 1.61. Unfortunately, you're stuck on 1.60 until someone does a new Windows build (or you switch to Linux or Mac OS X :-)). Your particular problem is known to happen in 1.60 (but was fixed in 1.61).
