Your lengthy devotion to this oxp seems to have paid off handsomly. Both download and new shader textures have worked very well for me so far and introduced some wonderful new ships to my game .

This is the final BETA update, I'll leave it for a week, tidy up any bugs, then release the (hopefully) stable result.
I *think* there are no more bugs.

Fixes:
Fixed the normals on the python_cc_eng subent
Fixed all the player veiws (so you shouldn't be able to see bits of ship)
Fixed a missing "l" from "normal" on one texture that was causing errors.

Additions:
Most of the ships have emmision maps (baked to the normal maps)

Because of texture changes I've re-uploaded the entire package, it's available;
not available any more, get the stable release

I want to give a special thank you to all the Testers, I'll try to mention as many as possible in the readme (which I still havn't written).

Stable version now released,

those who have the latest Beta don't need to change anything or bother downloading the stable release; it is exactly the same

see first post for details.

I moved its entry from the WIP to the main section of the [wiki]OXP List[/wiki], added a Quick Facts section to its Wiki page, and did some minor cleanups there.

Great! Thanks for releasing this, I'm soon going to be buying a Python Class Cruiser, so I'll be looking for your one in my shipyards.

Although I already had the latest Beta, I have still downloaded the stable release. :D

Staer9,

Downloaded and installed the latest stable release and got the following errors.

17:43:36.078 [texture.load.png.error]: ***** A PNG loading error occurred for ../AddOns/Staer9's Shipset (shaded) v1.0.oxp/Textures/staer9_pythonet_normal.png: IDAT: CRC error.
17:44:04.187 [texture.load.png.error]: ***** A PNG loading error occurred for ../AddOns/Staer9's Shipset (shaded) v1.0.oxp/Textures/staer9_ophidian_normal.png: IDAT: CRC error.

Went to the textures folder and opened the files with Irfanview with no errors so re-saved them to the same names with no compression. The errors have gone away, not sure whether this means that Oolite is more critical in reading files or that they were slightly corrupt and the re-save has cured it.
I am using the latest Trunk 4903.

Nice set by the way.

Looking really great in game, time to reevaluate my shipsets now this one is out.

I got the same errors as Ironfist with current trunk and maintenance builds, and fixed by opening and re-saving the two textures with GIMP.

Wishlist - Staerified/Griffified Wolfies and a Staerified/Griffified Behemoth - no pressure...

Edit to add - by the way these ships look great in all shader modes - OFF, SIMPLE and FULL (the normal maps work in all three, and it doesn't look like shaders are actually used... :?: ), so don't think you really need a shader capable machine for them.

Unfortunately this is one of the quirks of switching to .zip, it tends to corrupt some texture files when unziped using certain programs. I'll re-zip it later today and see if this fixes the error. (I checked that none of the files were interlaced, as oolite seems to have got far more picky)

:edit: Just tested oolite and I am unable to reproduce the texture errors :?

I said earlier that I might have a look at the wolfies, and if people want it then I'll definately have a go.

anyone know the licence on the behemoths?

:edit:
Re-uploaded the package after re-saving the problematic textures
also dimmed the PCC exhaust glow effect so it isn't quite so harsh.

I have downloaded and installed this shipset for the first time about 45 minutes ago and I am now getting this too:

Also getting these errors..
22:09:39.902 [texture.load.png.error]: ***** A PNG loading error occurred for ../AddOns/Staer9's Shipset (shaded) v1.0.oxp/Textures/staer9_pythonet_normal.png: IDAT: CRC error.

The game/computer also froze solid - had to force-reboot.. don't know if that was due to the OXP though..

Re the 2 problem textures I noticed on opening and re-saving with GIMP (on max compression) that file size is significantly reduced compared to the originals as extracted. I also notice on examining the zip file, that both are significantly deflated (5% to 6%) whereas the rest of the textures are either deflated only very slightly or not at all (0% to 1%).

Not sure if that helps, but maybe the two textures need some optimisation before being zipped.

What zip program do you use Staer9? I just use Win 7's native zipper/unzipper, and have 7-Zip installed for proprietary formats, or if I need to create password protected zips.

I also use the native zipper.

I also unfortunately had this issue (although only oolite froze), for some reason it only has this error on my Pc occasionally, which means it's not a zipping error because I have the only has-never-been-zipped copy

I will try that as well.

Also I have been told about some illumination map tearing issues:

You might want to have a look at staer9_ophidian_normal.png as well. One half comes up as transparent. May well be intentional for all I know, but looks a bit weird.
