I'm no good at explaining this sort of thing, Cholly, but paste/load an image into GIMP, then start clicking things and see what happens.
Try Layer/Transform/Rotate for starters (for example, LittleBear's pic looks better upside down - rotate 180°). Experiment!

Wow those are great cbr! Really awesome painting and texture work, so cool to see these spruced up with some lovely colour and design!

Adding Another Commanders specular map to phbk_anaconda, adds metalic shine but looses the glossy paintjob.



Here I masked the 'paintjob areas' specular 50% and gloss ~75% to obtain the combined look
