The Day of the Triffids, a novel by ‎John Wyndham, or the 1962 film of the same name, classics both.
Sorry - the Triffids are certainly an invasive species even if created by humans as was suggested in the book, but unfortunately we've already had one John Wyndham novel for this question - The Kraken Wakes! And one of the rules was "Usual rules - no two from the same canon / author / whatever"

Still one to go.

OK, going by the plot summary it counts - it's an alien invasion and they don't arrive by flying saucer. You have the fifth answer, and a meaningless bonus point since it's one I hadn't thought of (or heard of, but never mind). I throw the questionmaster's hat in your general direction.

Still derives from Wyndham's novel, I'm afraid, so no. And before anyone asks, I wouldn't have accepted Simon Clark's "Night of the Triffids" (2001); it's also derived from Wyndham's novel (and not very good, but that's another story). And Spud has won anyway!

ok seems i got my faculties back just in time... usual rules you can only identify 1 picture per post. Be specific... if there were three versions of a movie then it has to be the right one. if it is a tv series then season and episode seen gets the obligatory MBP's...

Name the movie/show the pic is from. nothing too obsdure for this first attempt........

cbr correct on number 1 with... Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen as portrayed by Sting in the 1984 film Dune. i asked for the movie not the character so 1/2 a meaningled bonus point

2 id correct from Disembodied it is indeed a shadow ship.

but a sorry to ffutures, not ALF...

so 3 still to go

cbr being naughty in not waiting a decent amount of time between answers ... but i suppose its ok seeing as ffutures got it wrong..

yes its the robot pet from Battlestar Galactica The Original TV series.... i refuse to acknowledge that modern remake existed..

ok so thats 3 , 2 to go. 4 might be a bit harder and 5 should be easy...

OK, I should have looked harder at the others because I'm pretty sure that number 5 is Johnny Cab, the robot taxi driver from the film Total Recall.
