Cool. Looks like the square texture at the bottom of the planet in that picture may need to be rotated before the conversion to equirectangular though. Of course you're free to use those assets from Space Nerds in Space (license is CC-BY-SA 3.0). If you run "make update-assets" it will suck down a whole bunch more from my digital ocean server and put them in share/snis/solarsystems/* (erm, I think I need to make sure attribution information is provided for those. Although now that I think about it, since they are pretty much entirely made by the computer, rather than by me, they might not even be copyrightable in the first place.)

I have to say, these gas giant textures are really nice.
Agreed

Do we have a seperate cloud layer now (in terms of an imported texture)?
When I did the additional planets textures I had to superimpose.

No, no separate imported cloud layer yet, what you see here is superimposed on (i.e. part of) the diffuse texture.

Fantastic as usual! I really like the contrast between the Asp's paint and the station's bare metal.

Rescaling's nearly done for 1.89 and IMHO (as a completely impartial and not at all invested observer
) it's the best version of the experiment by some distance.
Leesti, one of the smaller planets still manages to truly dwarf it's orbiting station (in the crosshairs).
Moments later, a mighty Anaconda approaches the docking bay (both are scaled to x3 but should provide a useful comparison to pics below).
By comparison a Fer de Lance seems tiny (although actually appears 50% larger in combat range) at x1.5.
A Boa at x2.5 is big, but not as big as the Anaconda.
At the other end of the scale, the humble Worm at x1.
Transporters meanwhile are at x2.
While old faithful, like most ships, is at x1.5 (different planet but you get the idea).
Barring any last minute/week hiccups, the necessary code should be (unofficially)
coming soon...
