I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

G'day and welcome aboard, Commanders Somersby and Dorban!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Re: Introduce Yourself.
Hello, brand new here and in game, Looking forward to getting cracking.
Was waiting for Dangerous to hit til they pulled the offline mode so this suits nicely. Like the options offered by the modders, will try a good few of those no doubt ^.^
Anyway, hi to all.

Re: Introduce Yourself.
Welcome aboard, Enko - as for OXPs, stick to eye-candy at first, and do try Random Ship Names.

Hello Enko. I was planning on buying E:D until I realised that it would be ages before I could afford to buy a new graphics card that would be up to the job of running it decently... So I downloaded Oolite instead. I have since bought X3 but despite the eye candy provided by that game I prefer Oolite and have hardly bothered booting up X3 for the last couple of months.

Greetings!!! I am a information security researcher with a knack for doing crazy things in my lab with my interns. I am looking at oolite to see if it can help jump start our next version of our SCADA CTF.

Welcome aboard, j105rob! There are a lot of very clever people here (hint: I'm not one of them) and I'm sure you can successfully bounce ideas off them.

G'day j105rob (and team), and welcome aboard!
Your planned project sounds very interesting, and it's nice to know you have the necessary resources available to throw at it.. best of luck!

Re: Introduce Yourself.
Hi guys, new to posting here, though I've been lurking on these forums/playing Oolite for several years now
got hooked by playing Frontier, the 3rd game in the original Elite series, then when I discovered the open-source updated version I was in love - and that was back when it was still 1.65! now I'm back to playing after a few years hiatus; seeing how good 1.80 is and how strong the modding/wiki/forum community still is made me finally decide to make an account and join the conversation.
I'd like to say I absolutely love everything about the Oolite community, the swift implementation of player ideas into player-made mods, the way each player can mix and match oxp's (or oxzs now) then further configure them to custom-tailor his experience, and now the way Oolite even has a built-in expansion manager so you can do it all without having to manually unzip and install the files? pure genius. I'm glad to finally join the community, if y'all will have me!
