Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
I've just sacrificed a new joystick, and grabbed a £20 pledge - I must be crazy!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Given that this Forum feels very much like "Elite Home" I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion. I also suspect that in time there will be an Oolite multi-player group in E:D, so it would be the perfect place to stay in contact.JazHaz wrote:Also, I think it might be an idea to make a sub-forum for Elite: Dangerous (or maybe for all the official Elite games?) in the Trouble with Trumbles area, rather than in Outworld. If we do that perhaps we can move all the existing threads about other Elites into there.

Yes I hope there will be an Oolite group. I may also make use of the Oolite chatroom on IRC to call for help when attacked by too many pirates!!Gimi wrote:Given that this Forum feels very much like "Elite Home" I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion. I would suggest establishing a separate chat room, but I'll definitely join you on IRC while playing....JazHaz wrote:Yes I hope there will be an Oolite group. I may also make use of the Oolite chatroom on IRC to call for help when attacked by too many pirates!!

All very well, this multi-player stuff - I just hope they don't neglect the single-player mode!

As a member of the Design Decision Forum I will make sure. Perhaps when the DDF is launched we should have a thread for ideas/features that the Oolite community have, to pass on to the DDF members?El Viejo wrote:All very well, this multi-player stuff - I just hope they don't neglect the single-player mode!

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
Only £25,000 to go for the 10 new ships.
It's awesome to see the level of commitment people have for this game (and it's a relief to know that I'm not the only one).
I would gladly pledge much more than I have done if I had the cash to spare. Christmas and sadly necessary trips to Scottyland have made sure that I can't spend more on it (as well as pledging for Jack H's book).
Still, I'm looking forward to the upcoming journey to be part of Elite: Dangerous, even if the game itself isn't perfect I'll still have been part of something officially Elite-related.
Knowing that the Oolite community will be in there too is just the icing on the cake.

As Frontier already have £25,000 pledged via Paypal, that should mean that stretch goal has been reached!!Selezen wrote:Only £25,000 to go for the 10 new ships.

The game will come to Linux in any case, I'd say. Braben's connection with the Linux world is strong enough to warrant that.
But, yes, a separate forum section for E : D would be great - it will certainly be more like home than the Frontier forums. And I hope of an Oolite group in the game as well.

£10,000 to go! Yeah, I know the paypal stuff has pushed it over already, but it would be awesome to see the actual KS pledges push it over too.
I think drew made a comment on the KS page that the staff must all be having an emergency stretch goals meeting.

Mulled over this a long time. Wanted to back Limit Theory too, but was really stripped of funds back then. So now that I could do it, I used also the amount I would've wanted to pledge for L T, and backed E:D by £90. Going to get the "Premium Boxed Edition"
...and keep it under lightspeed!
