In case anyone hasn't noticed, Photobucket is now starting to block links to images from other sites unless you pay an extortionate fee, several hundred dollars a year - all of mine are now blocked. I'm trying to get everything transferred to flickr etc. but it will be a VERY slow process and I'll probably miss updating some posts to the new image URL - to be honest, these forums are fairly low on my priority list, I have to worry about a large number of images that are no longer visible on my web site, amongst other problems. In the meantime, you should still be able to see the original images if you click on the message from Photobucket.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

<nods> Yeah, mentioned it last week - a real PITA for some people. I doubt I'll get my pics/links switched.

I'm not even trying it ... I'll simply delete my pb account.
Thankfully the cloud isn't my primary storage.

I know I have been posting a lot in the forum lately (and in particular in this thread!) but I hope you guys don't mind one more post, as I wanted to share my new work in progress: new paint jobs for the Cobra Mk. III:

Many thanks for the feedback, guys! I still want to do some tweaks on these two liveries and create a couple of other ones and then release them as a "Variety Pack", similarly to what Z GrOovy's pack.

Really good … I like the white and orange paintjob particularly! It's bright and and lets people get a good look at the ship models. Plus, it has a good Chris Foss vibe to it …

That's it! I thought there was something familiar about it and couldn't figure out what it was. Now that you mentioned it, it seems pretty obvious.

Great work on the retexture. My only minor observation would be about the white/orange variant's shiny things in the back that look like the Elite Dangerous heat sinks (I think). While in the dark variant they look great, in the white one they look a bit like stickers slapped on the surface. Maybe a bit of normal map tweaking could make a difference there?

Did someone mention Chris Foss?

I was thinking this colour scheme in particular:

Yes, they are based on a livery I came across for E.D., so those are suppose to imitate the heat sinks indeed. I think a normal map could really help here, I will see if I am able to use normal maps on this work as I am actually taking Z GrOovy's non shader Cobra repaints as my base and he didn't use normal maps (I am using his work as basis since this is the first time I am working with textures in Oolite and all these maps with alpha channels and shaders can get very complicated very fast, and he uses only a single texture with diffuse and emission maps).

If anyone is interested, I released these paint jobs together with 8 other ones as this OXP here. In the end I decided to remove the heat sinks and I added a normal map.
