A work of art, is Cheyd's nav buoy - get close enough and you can read its display!
Yes, that's great.

Indeed it fits more the Oolite universe than the default ones. The only thing I would change is the random rotation which fields a bit weird. It's strange this OXP isn't in the manager, the license could allow it.

I halved the speed of its tumbling - looks better that way!

In shipdata.plist thus:

Code: Select all

max_flight_pitch = 1;
max_flight_roll = 1;
Default is 2 for both. There are several entries, btw (and don't forget to shift-restart after any changes).

Photobucket is cracking down on people embedding on third-party websites images it hosts, until now, for free. The photo-slinging internet elder now says that anyone who wants to use its service to display photos it hosts on other pages – such as signature banners in forum posts – will now need to open up their wallets and plop down $399.99 a year for a subscription plan.
I presume this will (eventually) affect the many photobucket-hosted images posted hereabouts.

I never liked photobucket. Full of scripts, ads, and awkard to use.
There are many more and better image hosting sites. Everyone knows https://imgur.com/ I usually post pictures on https://postimage.io/ and http://en.zimagez.com/

Too bad for all the images in this thread that are hosted on photobucket... :(

Today I started messing around with some of the OXP I have and I ended up consuming my whole day to make this :D

Needless to say, the cockpit image is not GPL friendly, as it comes from... cof cof... another game... cof cof, and the HUD is also adapted from Xenon HUD (which has a Creative Common share alike license, so no modding...). So yeah, I suppose I can only make personal use of it :( (edit: Xenon HUD's license does allow modifications, the share alike part of the CC-SA license simply requires the same license for any modified versions; I was mistaken it with the no derivatives work license CC-ND, my bad. Thanks to phkb for the clarifications).

On the other hand, the glass effect uses only GPL textures and can be added to any HUD and I would be happy to share it if anyone is interested! I don't think it can be made as a standalone OXP, as effectively it is also a HUD and, correct me if I am wrong, Oolite loads only a single HUD. But it is easy enough to add to your HUD of choice. And I think the effect is very immersive!

The images above do not show the glass effect very well because they are in low resolution and are, well, static images. Below are higher resolution ones as well as an Youtube video:
