Roger Wilco!

OK, let's try a nice easy one - Five characters named Roger (NOT Rogers, so you can forget Captain America) from SF. Usual rules - only one character from any given source, e.g. all of the Marvel universe in all forms, all of Star Trek in all forms, etc. e.g. Roger Rabbit would probably not be eligible since he is more of a fantasy / film noir character than an SF character (and because I'm using him as my example) but if he was he would be the only one allowed for all of the animation studios that have characters appearing in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. OK?

Would the "Space Quest" game series count? The player character in that series was, coincidentally, "Roger Wilco".

Both are fine. Three to go!

Never heard of him, but he certainly counts.

OK, a fairly small role but it counts.

Well, he's a significant character in the show so he counts. Which gives you the win!

One other I was expecting was Prince Roger, the hero of David Weber's "March..." series. I'm sure there are others out there.

OK: name five alien species who have successfully* conquered/taken control of the Earth.

* "successfully" in this instance means they have achieved a certain level of long-term dominance or control. The aliens in Independence Day wouldn't count (their attack was defeated); nor would the aliens in District 9, who arrive as refugees and don't control anything. A "successful" invader might still face ongoing human resistance to their occupation.

The alien species would be the "Visitors": yes, that would count as one …

That's them! I couldn't remember if they were ever actually named (like the aliens in The Kraken Wakes, I think).

My original question was maybe a bit ambiguous: you don't need to provide an actual name, if the alien species isn't named itself. With that in mind, would the alien invaders in The Kraken Wakes qualify? Maybe not … they did do a fair bit of damage but I don't think it counts as a successful occupation.

Well, an obvious one, the story that most of V's imagery was stolen from - The Overlords from Clarke's Childhood's End

And The Race, from Turtledove's Worldwar series - they conquer large swathes of the Earth and are still in occupation at the end of the series.
