Stargate SG-1 - the stargates could malfunction due to solar flares, and you ended up with a wormhole going to the past instead of the present. If you were lucky (and had Samantha Carter Girl Genius with you) you might then be able to return to the present via another solar flare.

sorry cody seeing as its a sci fi trivia catweazel fails to qualify
timeslip is quoted in wiki as a sci fi children's show so that does count. also the mechanism was repeatedly used.
stargate and startrek examples were accidents or malfunctions.
i was after repeated use and as with the TARDIS, not necessarily controlled..
1 down 4 to go.

I'd say Quantum Leap - but I don't recall the mechanism used (if it was ever explained).

ok will accept that cody, it never was really explained just that Dr Beckett a physicist stepped into the Project Accelerator.
no control but repeated jumps...
2 down 3 to go.. there are a few more from the 80's and 90's

Timeless has spherical eyeball-ish time machines - a snazzy white one with LEDs, and a rackety tear-someone's-arm-off prototype - and very little else to recommend it.

The TV show Continuum had a sort of grapefruit-sized time ball thing which, when activated, snatched up whatever was nearby and hurled it into the past.

ok Disembodied has 2 that makes 4
back to the future was a movie not a TV show so sorry on that one.
and Smivs comes home with the winner.
Time Tunnel was first on my list
other notables were
Time Trax a cop sent 2 centuries into the past to recover criminals who escaped to the past . Trax was the time machine
Travellers the consciousness of a future person is sent into the body of a recently dead/dying person in an effort to change the past to prevent an apocalypse
Torchwood the DR Who spin off might also grace this list.
ok over to you Smivs

To come back to the list questions: 5 examples of mechanical/bio-mechanical/organic-mechanical entities with overwhelming powers, almost god-like in any SF franchise of choice.
E.g. I wouldn't consider HAL 9000 such an entity, but I would consider the Reapers in Mass Effect initial trilogy (the operational scale also matters, i.e. space/planets/timeframe).
PS: To shed some light on how I could find the answer to Smivs question, it wasn't google, but I had to update to the latest of
Size Comparison - Science Fiction Spaceships, as the previous versions I had locally didn't have this
Luckily, he didn't ask in what movie of the franchise this was present, as, although I watched them all mostly (still working on Solo: A Starwars Story), I cannot say I've spotted it myself on screen.

The Inhibitors, from Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space series.
Also from Alastair Reynolds, the Watchkeepers, from Poseidon's Wake.
Arguably, a Culture Mind - certainly one flying something like a General Systems Vehicle - from Iain M. Banks's Culture universe.
