I *BELIEVE* that you would have to flip each layer to visible / non-visible one at a time.

The easiest way to do this may be to stack them so the first frame is topmost, set all to visible, then walk down the layers turning each off one at a time. Also, look into downloading GAP - Gimp Animation Package. It might have what you need.

I really am NOT a GIMP user. I've just recently started to play with it. So, take what I say with a horse-sized salt lick. :P
That's what I was trying to do but you may have given me an idea - I don't think I was turning off the earlier layers as I moved through the layer stack!

I can't use GAP here where I'm working now because I'm running W98SE on this old laptop and therefore only GIMP-2.0, I've got 2.4 on my Linux/Oolite box - just not able to use it at the moment - away on a course. Will investigate further when I get back on the machine.

Cheers - fellow "GIMPers"! :)

Hi DH, have you tried an earlier version of the GAP plugin?
In other words, does this help?

Announcement

I have sent the new versions of youradhere and oohaul to Dr.nil in order to host them to his site.

I am hoping that those 2 updates will bring a new motivation to the contributors of this lovely oxp because from now on they will have the opportunity to see their artwork not only on the terrascreens but on a constore. Moreover the new oohaul will give to all the players of this lovely game the necessary motivation to visit the constores especially in combination with upcoming planetfall addone.
I did want the new constrores to just be a beautiful Christmas tree near the witchpoint but to also have a role to the universe

Let us hope that those 2 updates will give the motivation to the doc himself in order to come back to us.

Finally I want to thanks all the contributors of this upgrade.
You can post here or to youradhere thread your artwork for the future sets (like the remaining artwork for the oodles constore of the upcoming set G)

That's true of Photoshop, too, before you send the frames to ImageReady to have them animate. It's like a high tech flip-book! :)

I have discovered Irfan view on my W98SE can extract the individual frames and name them appropriately and save them to disk - so I can then use them GIMP - so now RL(tm) is almost at a sensible level I may be able to get on with some Oo-life instead...

Not had chance to test this (and not likely to either in the next few days).

If it doesn't work as a roof billboard (my hope/intention) does it work as a four frame 1x1?

(there is still the vaguest hint I think, that she's naked... )

Looks good, DH! :D Maybe though she could be just a smidgin smaller? Then she, and her glow, would stay within the boundaries of the billboard. At the moment the hard line when she cuts the edge might spoil the effect a bit (although not that I've tested it, either).

Still no access to my Oolite PC and after today no access to a decent 'puter with GIMP on it either.

Have a look at this for a billboard (it's wider than tall which may be the first issue) - if it's liked in principal but has issues if you stack them up here then I will try and address them once I escape from RL(tm).

In advance I'd like to say that I have struggled to create the grey pseudo-outlines without making the whole thing look really naff so I removed them - if people feel they should be there then I'll put them back.

I also haven't cut round the shapes (yet) with a transparency, but again, will do when I'm told it needs to be done. Just wanted to show you what I've tried to do (with GIMPs ever amazing effects!) so you can tell me if I'm on the right track!

(in it's current form of course it would make an 8 frame "normal" 256x128 billboard - but I'd really like to have a roof billboard out of this if possible!)

Anyway, here it is (I've played it out as a slideshow in Irfanview and he tumbles and waves quite nicely):

Well my meeting finished early and I got back earlier than I thought I would, so I squeezed out a few drops of RL as I wasn't ready to give up on my spaceman.

8 frames - complete with pseudo-outlines - still no access to Oolite PC so I can't test - but he dances and waves quite nicely in Irfanview....

128px wide - 256px high (although mostly transparency)
