Summary of recent Oolite activity
An update to "Summary of recent Oolite activity for January 2024"
1) English Bulletin Board
This started suffering problems (due to old software) and was taken down. Timer (bless his cotton socks!) was good enough to migrate it over to his new oolite.space website, where it now resides.
This means that most of the old references to Oolite which are sprinkled around the world-wide web (Oolite.org/aegidian.org) are now misleading. Only our wiki is still at the original location.
2) OXPs
2a) Revamped old favourites (almost all by Phkb)
Another Commander (a_c) has been relentlessly improving the graphics in Oolite. Griff (and Killer Wolf) have incorporated this in their newer OXPs, but ships and stations in other old OXPs now look poor. Therefore many of these have been updated.
- Armoured Transport Type 1 - retextures this 2005 ship OXP and adds in armoured viper escorts for it
- Astrofactory has finally had "Revolutionary Astrofarms" added for the "agricultural Dictator juntas" (the original idea as proposed back in 2007!)
- Auto Skim OXP has been updated to work with newer oolite versions (for sun-skimming for fuel)
- Coyote's Run (mission in G5, based on the Oolite novel)
- Deposed (mission in G4)
- Fuel Tweaks had many extras hidden inside. These are now more apparent. And, one has the option to now refuel only at a fuel station.
- In System Trader now works!
- Jaguar Company has been updated for the newer versions of Oolite
- Lave OXP has a new planet texture with city lights and replaces Murgh's low poly ships with Griff equivalents
- Riredi OXP has a new planet texture with city lights & lore-based landing sites, as well as a new commodity for New Cargoes OXP
- SW Economy has finally had mining worlds economies tweaked to make agricultural goods more expensive there (but not yet Oxygen & Medicine)
- Ship's Library MFDs are now free and are more usable
- The Assassins Guild Rebooted (Littlebear) updates the missions - and G7 too!
- Tionisla Orbital Graveyard - Memorials (v2.2) - Now includes Commander Vasig, Requiscat In Pacem.
2b) New OXPS

- WOOT-Attack! Causes some NPCs to attack you if they notice that you "target" them with your weapons on-line

- Loadout by Category - reorders the equipment lists on the F3/F5 screens, adding in equipment categories
- Lave initial shipyard - tweaks the shipyard to allow downgrading your Cobra Mk3 to a Cobra Mk1 or an Adder, and then spending the extra money
- Anaconda Cruise Liners - adds in cruise liners from different companies to different galaxies (this is for a future Corporate States OXP)
Retextures ("Facelifts")
- Retextures for Deep Space Dredgers
- Retextures for Fuel Stations
- Retextures for Pit Viper MarkII (Coluber)
- Retextures for WildShips - also works for Stranger's World Orbital Stations
- Wireframe Ship Images - now needed for newer Vimana-X HUD
- Silicone Sealant (plugs fuel leaks for a time) - vital for Stranger's World!
Strangers World
- Commies Orbit Update (changes position of SLAPUs/CZGFs so that they orbit the sun in Stranger's World)
External Docking and PlanetFall2
- External Docking system - allows External Docking at Extra Rock Hermits and at Nuit (MkI) stations. Needed for Planetfall2
- Extra Rock Hermits - new models of Rock Hermits, some with External Docking ports
- Nuit Space Station (Nuit MkI) - Phkb added a retexture, external docking & externally docked liners to Killer Wolf's OXP.
- Planetfall2 - now has a different mechanism. You fight your way through turbulence to elevator points just above the planet surface which take you down to separate docking stations connected by a train-line. So far, only DGill's Feudal States rejig does anything with this.
Note that "Landing sites" are not added to "Stranger's World "moons and secondary planets because they orbit. They are added to moons/secondary planets in the "Additional Planets" suite (which do not move).
- Planet Rotation Cosmetics - slows down planet's rotation as one approaches to land
- Feudal PlanetFall Customisations/Feudal PlanetFall2 adds Feudal landing sites to feudal planets
- Navigation Beacons MFD lists the closest beacons (including those on Planetfall2 sites)
Oolite v.1.91 (currently not for AppleMac/Linux)
- ConsoleLogMFD (needs Oolite v.1.91) - adds in a log for console (non-"communication") messages
- Contextual Help (needs Oolite v.1.91)
