I guess from the Commander's scripting requests elsewhere - he's hit a stumbling block or two...

Not bad. I think I can release the initial OXP in the next days. There will be new sets with more personalities, which can be installed on top of the basic set. So keep'em coming!
I am going this way, because the basic set is now about 10MB big, which is about the limit I can reasonably manage to upload. If new entries re-use the textures contained in the basic set, the additional sets may become much smaller.
And if you're interested to know: The basic set contains the first 14 contestants, and set A seven more until now.

Tadah!
Here it is: version 0.9, containing the basic scripting and AIs, and a collection of 14 of your favourite characters from our friendly boards.
It is fully working, but please note that Personalities.oxp is still a
work in progress. I don't consider the scripts to be finished yet, so in a final release they may be tweaked and altered from the versions in this
sneak preview.
Please help me improving the OXP by reporting any bugs and odd behaviours you encounter through it at this very spot. Thank you!
(Note: The script contains one feature which will only be added to Oolite in 1.74, and its syntax may be different from what I am anticipating. So if you trunk-users get error messages about
this.ship.awardEquipment and
this.ship.removeEquipment, please send me a PM, but don't take them too seriously.)
More characters will be added as I receive them in seperate sets, which will require the basic OXP to work. Set A is already in the making and contains seven more characters to date, but still has space for some more. So please, keep'em coming, folks!
Personalities.oxp v 0.9 (sneak preview) is now available for download on its Elite Wiki page:

I think you can safely reduce the required version to 1.73. Open the "requires.plist" and substitute "1.73.4" with "1.73".
Sorry, just hadn't thought that people still have previous members of the 1.73-family installed.
I am right now uploading a new version which has the requirement reduced to 1.73. But below that it won't work.

They are created either at the witchpoint or somewhere on the way to the planet. (And if you are launching from the main station, they may either be outside waiting for you, or launch after you, or be somewhere on the way to the witchpoint.)
Oh, and there is the property this.logging in personalities.js. If you set it to "true", you will get some information on what a specific personality is doing in your log.

Just downloaded - I'm amongst esteemed company - I must head back to Diso (in my other guise as Commander Janus) to see if I can find myself (that sounds somewhat mid-life crisis!)
Reading through the comms messages had me crying with laughter - we're an imaginative bunch.
Nice one D - a wonderful addition!

I guess I'll have to upgrade to Oolite 1.73.* and look forward to future character set installments.
