Another odd thing happened the other day. I was just going to dock when I spotted a ship called a "Worm" heading for the planet. I watched  as he went down, adjusting his course every now and again then hit the planet and no, I haven't got planetfall. Suggestions? :D

I could of course suggest you get Planetfall, but that'd be just blatant self-promotion ;)

But anyway Planetfall doesn't add ships going to the planet, just the capability for the player to do so.

But inbuilt into the game is the capability of ships with the role of shuttle to go to and from the planets (at least NPC ones).

And guess what a worm is? Yup, it's a shuttle.

Well, I've looked at the info bit on elitewiki, or whatever it is, and it seems that I might have attacked a space hermit by accident  I've got the older version, not sure what the number is... anyhow, thanks for the help!
Don't worry, there's a lot of it about! :D
Yes - everywhere I go the cops are after me now!!! still im getting better at shooting straight now...

I'm now on the subject of OXPs and was thinking of getting these ones:
Asteroid Storm
Buoy Repair
Behemoth
Galactic Navy
Flying Dutchman

Any other suggestions would be welcome or info about the ones listed above.
Thanks! :D

Asteroid Storm is great because it adds more different asteroids to the game!

Buoy Repair can help when someone shoots down a buoy, so you won't have navigational troubles. It also adds nice buoy factories in some systems, great for the looks!

Behemoth and Galactic Navy should be accompanied by the Thargoid-OXPs for more fun, like Thorgon threat and such! It does add some nice missions for well-equipped ships and a pilot who does invest enough money can get cheap equipment and repairs there ;)

The flying dutchman is fun, but I took it out after some weeks as it's a pretty regular encounter and the ship kept beaming trumbles aboard my ship *GRRR*

I always suggest to add Random Hits for missions from beginner to full-equipped ships...it's fun, it's got a great looking bar with much going on around...and always a nice way to make some money!

Deep Space Pirates is fun when you like to leave the lanes and see some of the original elite experience, as it does add pirates outside the trading lanes!

Thanks for the quick reply! :D
Maybe not the flying dutchman...... I think I'll get deep space pirates and could you tell me more about random hits?
EDIT: Which Thargoid ones do you recommend?

Thanks again! :)

OK, I went to this page and my oxp folder...
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP

If you add Behemoth, also the Behemoth spacewar should be installed.

Cargo & Wrecks V1.3.4 (Updated again) or pods could be some fun because of different cargo containers and more funny messages when scooping up things. pods has some negative events which can happen, but it's possible to disable those scripts if required.

Deep Space Dredger can be some fun because it does add derelict ships and the possibility to salvage them.

HoOpy Casino can be interesting for an additional trading place. Sometimes they pay very good for gems and sell furs for a very nice price ;)

Ionics is a nice mission and ship pack for galaxy 2, but it's not finished...after the first part of the story it sounds as if it's going on, but there's nothing more then.

Pirate Coves turns some rock hermits into pirate bases and also adds more of them where no hermits are. Maybe some fun...not too difficult.

Planetfall OXP does add the ability to land on planets, which is good for people flying large trading ships: they can also trade on the planets, thus make more profit per flight.

Second Wave OXP enhances the thargoids!

Thargoid Wars V4.3 adds more thargoid fun and some rewards for pilots fighting those bugs!

Thargorn Threat v1.2 does add bigger ships for thargoids and is a must have if you go for behemoth oxp in order to keep some balance in the game!

Random hits...well, it's the mission oxp which I did play the most. It adds space bars to anarchies...those bars are busy with auto-mining operations and have quite some bounty hunters flying around, searching for pirates. When docked, there's a list of very funny random missions...from beginner level up to really tough ships. Those victims can be found in other systems and fly in a small group, thus not much resource usage, but adding a nice fight that does pay well. It's also possible to trade at the space bars ;) People can do anything while they got a Random Hits mission, thus it's not even preventing the player from doing other things. I used it to have destinations for flying around and then trade at the systems in between. Even if it were only adding the space bars, I'd add it, because it's great to see what's going on there, with the auto-miners, a ship which recovers them if hostiles are around, and auto-pay pods which return the mined minerals to the planet but allow to be scooped up to fill the cargo hold (resulting in a small auto-payment, it's usually always profitable to scoop them if there's much free space in the cargo hold). For Random Hits, there's a big thread in the forum which also links the newest release:
https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=4123

There is also a Thargoid Carrier oxp and the carrier does have a high bounty, but I would not install it until it's reworked, as the carrier is practically incapable of fighting, just a sitting duck waiting to be shot down. It requires the player to rotate and use multiple lasers because of the high energy amount that ship has. I'd wait for a reworked version and then install that one.

Each listed OXP needs to have listed a version no. and a release date, IMO… yyyy-mm-dd, by preference (to avoid the stupid 'Merkian date format).

You can dock with it and trade if you like.

I now have yet another problem! :( I have downloaded the OXP's then did as it said and moved the .oxp file. However there were 2 in each, 1 a folder the other a single file and even 3 in one! Which one do I move?

Thanks!

There should be a folder with .oxp extension inside the unzipped folder...and that oxp folder should contain multiple files/folders. That oxp folder has to be moved to the addon directory.

(I bet your thinking: Oh great another problem! :( ) And yes it is. I have discovered that none of the OXP's apart from BuoyRepair (nice ships in it :) !) are working as their folders need renaming. However I cannot rename them and I have unblocked them and have full security control over them.

Thanks if anyone has any ideas!!! :D

A lot of oxps will extract to a non-oxp folder. Inside you'll find the real oxp folder, and the oxp readme. All you need to do is go inside the folder you can see, and copy the folder already called something.oxp to the AddOns directory...

Hope this helps.
