@Ark - by non-shader do you mean single frame?
I've got a short-story to write over the weekend for a competition with my local writer's group and two kids to look after because my better half is at work, but if the story goes well and I get it finished I will see what I can do - I'm quite enjoying myself!
If all I ever contribute to Oolite are 'verts then I won't be entirely disappointed!

Well yes. If you look inside the trade outpost textures i want something like the griff_no_shader_drinking_spaceman pngDaddyHoggy wrote:@Ark - by non-shader do you mean single frame?

So, when’s the Shady Billboard going to be integrated into this project? ;-)

Shady Billboards in the constores? How about after the MNSR?
@Ark, the problem I have with Griff's non-shady spaceman is that it's bloody brilliant and I'm really not in the same league - I have the imagination, but not the skill! Will do my best though.

On second thoughts leave it. I will use the coctail_glass ad as an ad for the 1x1 billboards. I would have to think something else as a replacemet for the drinking spaceman on the top of the stationDaddyHoggy wrote:@Ark, the problem I have with Griff's non-shady spaceman is that it's bloody brilliant and I'm really not in the same league - I have the imagination, but not the skill! I am not really sure how i will intergrate this in all the ads of Dc Nil's oxp (300 ads !!!!!!!!)
Maybe i will include just 1 or 2 billboards from your oxp in each set as a teaser for things to come

I'll take that as affirmation of my lack of skill!
Almost got an alternative Ad ring ready...

Not your skills but mine since i can not change the model that is conected with the roof billboard to be compatible with the coctail_glass ad pngDaddyHoggy wrote:I'll take that as affirmation of my lack of skill!

Yes !! in order to replace the roof billboard (that actually is not a billboard) we have also to change the model (something that is far above my abilities )

Do you still want an alternative ad ring? Or will you have similar issues?
I'm sure you'll work it out (or Griff will be able to help)
later,
DH

Edit: well Griff's rocket as shown here https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=3460
would be a nice replacement for the drinking spaceman in the roof of the station (if we put it verticaly on the top of the station) so i download it but the shader effects do not work (at least not when the rocket is imobile)

One idea I had...
there's a program for the PC called Xara 3D. Can't get it for the Mac, so I'll have to use a GIF I created with the program back when I had a PC. Here's what it does: you can use any font character and the program will render it in 3D using OpenGL. And you can animate the GIFs so either the light sources rotate around the object, or the object itself rotates.
Oh, and you can add a simple texture-map (a JPEG or BMP image) to the face of the image, and give it the bevel you want.
As you know, there are a lot of fonts that have shapes. Webdings and Wingdings, for example. The lower-case 'L' in Webdings is a circle. Add extrusion to it to make it look like a coin, and use a rounded bevel to make it look like a plastic disc. I said I'd used it before, here's the image I'll use.
This is actually a splice of two images. I just want to use the Three Lions side so we have less frames. And I only get four to play with. So I'm going to get the side-on, face-on, and two 45-degree angles.
Remove the England words and add some text for a product and I get this.
Or, for the PNG graphics...
There are more spinning logos out there you can use if you don't want to pay / pirate Xara 3D. This would look good on something.

@Ark - you work fast and the Tescoo Oxpress looks fab! Even the ad-ring looks fine! I see what you mean about the Pi-42 'vert, I will make the green square larger and more rectangular, but still leave a white border and re-issue.
Stay tooned!
