Might it be easier to change the ooniverse to fit in with the model?
Either Murgh's Iron Asses, or one of the many other low-poly retexture sets?

Sure a lot of the old ships lack polys certainly compared to Griffs Industries Newer Designs, but they are unique. I've had a go at trying to make the existing model look like it fits in the universe, and this is about as good as I can make it:
I mean, I think it's better, but you can't escape the fact that is it really low-poly.
So what will made this Basilisk stand out is a real spec gloss map, so no more full gloss trickery
(Tip: move the metal plating to specgloss maps RGB, darken the metal parts in the diffuse RGB. The painted parts and the logo need something else
