After proving itself impervious to several antibiotics, the ear infection wasn't getting any better, so went to the hospital - where I ended up having a little surgery... Sparing you from the bloody details, basically they had to cut behind my ear for some extirpating and scraping.

What miffed me a bit about the whole matter is that the doctor said it wouldn't leave a scar... what's the point of having a surgery if I won't get new scars to show off?  Yes, this nut-case collects scars... so what?!

I stayed at a friend's home for postoperative recovery, and now I'm back. While I'm not ship-shape and Bristol fashion yet, the doctor's prognostic is that I might be able to sail away next week.

I would have told you guys this earlier, but my friend didn't had internet.

Well, in some ways it's good we didn't know - we'd just fret you know!

Glad you're on the mend - sorry about your lack of scar - terrible.

Speedy recovery and plain sailing.

Glad you're on the mend. :)
If you want scars, why not just get a ship's cat!

I'll testify to that (as seen elsewhere on this forum!)

I used to have a cat when I had my own boat, and even when he got a little crazy he couldn't (wouldn't?) do more than ruin my suntan...

Then again, my skin has taken more abuse than just a suntan; by now I think it's beginning to be describable as "tanned into a sailor's leather by the sea, the wind and the sun"*... :?
