Thanks.
Having never written for a wiki before, I have probably already broken several written and unwritten rules. Don't be shy to scold me for my transgressions
Wiki article navigation

I was wondering about the Wiki. It is filled with great articles but is kind of hard to find them. When you go to the Article Index Page you are presented with a huge alphabetical list that is not very user friendly. Wouldn't it be possible to put up an easy-to-find sitemap? As it is now I would never have found the Cap's articles if they hadn't been linked to from this thread.

I've been thinking about the same thing too.
Perhaps a few more categories of the front page?
One which points to a page with links to background material like the planet list and the page with organizations and governments.
I also wondered if ships should somehow be merged with stations and perhaps a new category for miscellaneous like asteroids, beacons et cetera.

Good ideas, love the Stations page BTW! (Thinks: wonder if there's anyway to animate the Torus station image for rotation like in the other station entries). LB and I placed the Powers and Organisations page in the Background section of the Instruction Manual cause it seemed to fit and we reasoned that that would be the first place people would look for info. But I agree, now the Wiki is being expanded a 'site map' would be a way forward rather than the Article List.

Hi.
I've made direct links to download for most OXPs on
the wiki OXP page
I've also been doing some work on updating the
the ships page.
Unfortunately I'm not able to take screen shots on the startup screen atm so if anybody has got some good well lit shots of some of the missing ships without exhaust plumes and other disturbing elements, please post links to them here.
The
stations page also miss shots of some of the models.

Nice work, Doc!
I like that you've added the Powers and Organisations page to the Oolite frontpage, as well as the stations!

I don't have time the next couple of days but if you want me to I can try to come up with a preliminary (sp?) design for a site-map by the end of next week. Just let me know if you would like that.
side-note: Doc, new Commie messages also at that time

I've put a lot of work into filling the
ships and
stations pages with thumbs and links to individual pages the last couple of days.
Now there are pages for most ship and station types, so ship builders can go ahead and start filling in stats histories and screenshots. I only put download links on the pages I made.
I know I didn't get
everything in there, hopefully somebody else will fill in some of the blanks.
If something looks funny, you might have to use your browser's update button (I had to do that at first when using Firefox).
@The Capt'n: I thought the P&O page deserved a visible and easy accesible link with all the work that has been put into it lately. Also I tried to imagine what I'd like to be able to find easily if I was still a newbie.
@HueijRevisited: I look forward to any ads you come up with (commie or otherwise). Your two ads so far have been very stylish.

Great job, Dr. Nil
I've noticed that there's already a ship called the 'Manta', which was the name I intended to use, is it okay to have a 'Manta Mk II' or would it be better to just think of a different name?

I would think that is fine, providing there is, at least, a passing family likeness to the original Mamba to justify it being the Mamba Mk.II!! - that could be just the basic shape, viz the Cobra family.

Thanks for all your efforts in updating/upgrading the wiki.
Here is one wish of mine: There are documents about almost everything that's important for OXP'ing, but a couple of things are still missing. Could somebody take a look into this? E.g. there is nothing about Equipment.plist but a couple of non-working links on other pages. I would really like to have that, but of course it must be written by someone who actually knows all the usable methods and so on.
And this is only one example for the couple of left-out pages.

I don't know about the naming issue, but look forward to hear incoming opinons on this issue. (I did wonder if the Rays were too closely named to the Mantas too, but as I understand Wikipedia Manta Rays are not really Rays..?)
I've been wanting to ask what that ship in your profile is. Is that the Kev-Corp Manta?

@Dr. Nil Yes it is, just a few finishing touches then I'll submit it to Oosat2.
Because it has quite large wings it seemed appropriate to call it a Manta, but if anyone's got any better ideas, I'll be glad to hear them. I intended to make it a military ship with a few pieces of military hardware as standard with a price tag to match.

What about Stingray? (Or is that also already used?)
