Did try this the oxp way, extract and rename to oxp in addons and changed the picture, this worked for me...

On this oolite i do not seem to have any oxz, only extracted oxps so i do not know where to put them (linux)
Look in ~/GNUstep/Library/ApplicationSupport/Oolite/ManagedAddOns
