No, you normally end up at the closest dockable station.

Not sure if its intentional, but its been that way for ages.
And it makes perfect sense that your escape capsule would try to navigate to the closest station and preferably not the long way to the main station. And it appears that your ship manufacturer can ship your new ship just anywhere in no time. 8)

Any chance we could have other games available at the casinos? I'm bored with hoops! Perhaps gambling on pod racing or something?

that's the caveat that had me curious, it seems unlikely (!) that a casino could/would replace a ship and its fittings. i suppose the insurance policy must have a "we deliver anywhere" clause!

Isn't there a random time added to your current time whenever you bail out?
That represents the Escape Pod's travel time and the time needed to procure a new ship and get it to your location.
...Maybe that time needs to be increased?

...Also, just like Your Ad Here, Hoopy Casinos probably shouldn't appear in Communist systems. Likewise, they might not be suitable or safe for pirate-infested anarchy/feudal/multi-government systems.

I just updated [wiki]HoOpy_Casino[/wiki] with a small bug fix.

Since the introduction of this oxp, it added the casinos in systems of tech level > 10. But, according the system descriptions there are also systems of lower tech level that are famous for their "hoopy casinos". Somehow it felt as a bug that you didn't found a casino in such systems (about 5 to 10 systems per galaxy). In the legacy version there was no option to correct this, but it should have happened in the JS version.

Version 1.2.1 will now always add a casino ship in systems that are famous for their hoopy casinos, without looking at the tech level for such systems.

I also added Switeck above proposal to exclude communistic systems

Earth's largest casinos are in Macau - in "communist" China.

That is true, but they are there so big because the casinos were banned from the real chinese communist area. Until 1999 Macao was Portuguese area, like Hong Kong was British. And only in 2049 it will be fully under the chinese law. Until than it will stay a non-communist enclave, surrounded by 'communist' area. :P

So, Macao is even a good RL example that casinos are banned from communist area :!:

I docked at a Hoopy casino for the first time today, and there was nothing to do in there. Is this a bug? All the dock screens look how they do at every station, except there's no equipment for sale, and a few commodities for sale including liquor and the things you would expect.

But no games. No hoopy music that I've heard about. Nothing. How do I start the games? I think something is wrong.

Using latest official oolite on windows 7.

Please post your "latest.log" after docking with a Hoopy Casino.

All versions from 1.2 onwards should work. (version 1.1 uses an outdated missionscreen handling). You should see the special screens with music on every docking.

That's strange, I went back to show you the log, and this time it worked perfectly. So no problems to report anymore, thankfully!

Hoopy Casinos possibly worthy of a commodities.plist market touch-up?
...due to very strange prices and amounts for furs, gold, plat, gems, and even alien items.

I second adding more games........

Blackjack
Roulette
Slots
What you expect in a casino. Not that there are that many in the UK.
Can they be made as an external that only loads when required and then cleared from memory when exited.

Also even when I target the main station in the compass, I can end up going to Hoopy's instead, is this a bug.

The casinoship is always (with version 1.2.1) placed close to the station. Perhaps that is why you feel that the main station compass target leads you to the casino instead?

I'm sure I've seen this same problem reported before..
