I just wondered at mister Wildeblood's reasons for posting a picture of a flag he didn't even like?
(Fixed your punctuation.) :P

Any time I see some genius on twitter tweet a "Check out my new flag design, this should be our flag." message I copy it here. I don't discriminate between ones I like and those I don't.

As for broader context, there is none specifically. This is a subject that continuously rumbles along at a slow rate in Australia. The only thing making it any more topical than usual is the referedums going on next door in New Zealand.

I immediately saw a diagram of how to win at noughts & crosses, but no, it's the Southern Cross, just drawn in Aboriginal dot-style stars rather than European spiky-stars style.

Southern Cross again, with curved-spike stars formed by the spaces between the dots. The field and dots are a colour-reversed golden wattle, I think. Don't ask me why it's colour-reversed. :?:

Looks like a serve case of someone wanting to be too clever. I never would have seen stars in it. It's less like a national flag and more like an optical illusion riddle. Although I have to confess I kinda saw a cross in it. I wondered if this might not be a new flag for Vatican City.

Almost exactly the same reaction I had.

After I got past the noughts and crosses, I quite liked the top one for the unusual colours.

Happy Christmas, foreign devils!

The first referendum has finished, and the top contender is this (which I voted for as the best of a bad bunch):

sad but i think that a flag is too important to "settle for the best of a bad bunch" .

what are the trems of the referendum? what percentage of the population of NZ do they need to force a flag change?

This flag thing quite complicated. There are billions of possible designs. I actually believe this is one my debating topics...
