8) Scandihovians for you.
If you want, I'll write them a sharp e-mail about their journalistic liberties in Norwegian  . I have already sent one e-mail asking them to correct a few mistakes (which they have done).

There are some right muppets commenting on "The Escapist" article - clearly haven't actually read Drew's KS.

I think they're just jealous because they didn't think of it first/at all.

I'm not going to join just to refute them - but if anybody else is already registered, please go kick them in the nuts...

One person commented on my facebook page that he'd only pledged because he thought it was a great idea and wished he'd thought of it first... :)

Cheers,

Drew.

It's a case of the first person writing a critical comment and everyone else just jumping on the bandwagon, lacking the ability to think for themselves. I understand that some people find this controversial, and a healthy pro et con discussion around it would be ok, but a collective "boo" just for the sake of it is just sad....

Andy Chalk (the dude who wrote the article) seems to be fairly so so about it.
Then they make the mistake of opening up the comments section. Knowing what I know about the escapist's usual pithy content this bunch of sign on muppets would heckle mother Teressa, given half a chance.

I would pay them no mind. (to be honest I don't thing they really "get it". It's not like your taking the money and running) On the plus side from a press point of view outrage trumps apathy every time. Let them rant & rave they only add to the curve of your trend.

If it gets too bad I'm sure we could all pop over there and inundate the thread with really mundane and crap insults; "Yeah, like that Dew guy he, erm, erm likes tapioca and picks his nose eeeewww!" at which point any credibility the comments section had gets fired right out the window. Job done.

Getting back on target here:
Kickstarter works by the pyramid funding scheme. A little from a wide base of people, can add up to achieve an apex. All your doing is putting a smaller pyramid inside the bigger one.

Your creating a way point if you will, toward a goal. It's like turning kickstarter into a chocolate advent calendar, small goals and rewards all leading up to door 24.

Congratulations you've just made history. You clever, clever writer you!..... :)

It's all publicity, right? More publicity than anyone expected, but that's a good thing - publicity spreads the word therefore more people pledge to Elite and to Reclamation.

That's really quite good.</understatement>

Incidentally, after trawling the Elite: Dangerous thread, I found this:
Gimi wrote:
Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge.
So whatever happens, it was Gimi's fault. ;-)

Yes Gimi should be blamed/praised with equal measure.

 I was hoping that little comment would fall into obscurity.
No, really, I think this is great, and I'm happy to take the blame while Drew reaps the rewards. He has created a great Kickstarter and deserves praise.

Edit: Just saw my spelling mistake as well (found/fund). I think I'll leave it there.

Yes, in years to come journo's will be able to write it as:

...found [sic]...

:)

Yep... all Gimi's fault! As it happens, found sort of works... in the sense of starting the campaign.

I hope to join you again for a glass in the not too distant future...
Keeping fingers crossed for the Kickstarter. I don't want to be blamed for it's failure...
