I still think it gets ridiculously long for high priced items. So I'd still vote for changing the formula to sqrt(decicredits) * seconds + 10 minutes or something like that.
I still vote to leave it as it is, or to at least not make installments / repairs go faster.
Some of us have delivery deadlines to keep - this can make for very difficult decisions : "can I or can I not afford to equip my ship /repair some (most vital) equipment in the only station with sufficiently high TL on my way ?"

Those who want things easier / Barbie-Oolite can get them Thargoid's repairbots and stuff. So why change the game itself ?
Pylon-mounted missiles/bombs should probably have an upper limit on the amount of time they add when you buy them.
I believe the kill-it series of cheat weapons may end up destroying nearly everything just by taking centuries to equip.

The missile is still within the limits of normal equipment (30,000Cr). The doomsday device, however, costs 5,000,000Cr and does indeed take a while to install. (Actually, that was my main reason for requesting a cap. However, as these weapons aren't meant seriously, and the most expensive ones don't count towards your pilot's game time anyway (because you'll be starting from your last save game after trying them out), it's not that big an issue.)
Ok, simple solution -- if an overhaul which involves nearly your WHOLE FREAKING SHIP only takes a day, it's not really fair that the installation or removal of equipment takes longer. So make that the cap.
