Cool, I like zeppelin-like spaceships. And with the upcoming Iron Sky movie we'll get more of those.

Keep up the good work Mandoman, you're posting ships faster than we can comment on them.

Now THOSE are cool ships. That's a new movie coming out? I'm going to have to watch for that one. :D

It's the white balls on each 'corner' that crack me up. :D

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how to get the effect I want where those white balls are. They are suppose to represent antigravity emitters, and glow a bright white. I might just try erasing the balls, are putting giant flashers in their stead. Getting things to come out the way I want is sometimes a problem.

Does engine flare have to point backwards? Can it point downwards, and be white, instead?

Do you mean use engine flare to represent the anti-gravs? I don't know know for sure, but I think engine flare always point back. It's like the lasers can only point aft, forward, port, and starboard. Not a bad thought, though. :)

Mandoman,
make them white (or whatever colour you think they should be), then give them the same or a complimentary colour in an emission map...try various brightnesses. Then place a flasher in each one (again of a suitable colour) and make it a tiny bit bigger than the globe. Try a slow pulse or steady light and I think you'll get close to what you are looking to achieve.

Unfortunately yes it does, and they have to be the blue colour (except under injectors, when they're purple). Neither is under any sort of control, as isn't their length (it depends on ship speed).

All of those are "at the moment", as I know sorting those out has been requested several times as feature updates, as their basic nature sticking out of some of the fine ship models and skins we have these days does look a bit out of place at times.

That's kind of what I was thinking of. I tried it on one of my really huge ships, but didn't make it big enough and it looked wimpy. It should work well on player ships, though, I would think. I guess I'll find out. :)

I have always liked the look of the Romulan WarBird. You have made a nice ship there Mandoman.

Thanks. I started out trying to make the actual Romulan War Bird, like I did the Bird Of Prey, but that front head section gave me fits. I tried using two, or three different techniques to make all the little lines, and curves, and never could get it right. In fact, what I had on my first try had too many tiny little pieces, so I stashed that one away, and simplified it some by reducing the verts, and face count. The result is what is in that pic, but I named it mandowarbird as it isn't really the Romulan War Bird. I've set myself the task of making just the front head of the actual Romulan version, and if/when I succeed will attach it to a similar body. That thing has taken me longer to build than any ship I've tried so far.
