Interesting... thanks for that. I hadn't looked at the Imperial Courier previously, but I've just had a quick glance now. The size does surprise me, I must confess, as I'd assumed (erroneously, clearly) that all bounty hunters would fly small(-ish), super-fast ships. I can certainly see the benefits of a 100t cargo hold, however, for someone with the skill to kill lots of bad guys quickly -- the amount of debris to 'hoover up' after a successful encounter must be substantial. Mind you, I'll have to go on saving my pennies for some time yet if I decide to invest in one of these expensive beasties!

You can progress towards your ultimate bounty-hunter ship in smaller stages: a good initial step in the right direction might be the [wiki]Cobra Rapier[/wiki].

Thanks; I'll be sure to check it out.

I should point out that I'm at risk of getting the same conversation going in 2 different threads -- a capital crime, I understand (and I can see why, I hasten to add, but it's hard, isn't it, keeping the forums tidy & logical? Threads wander, and before you know it you're in dangerous territory).

If GalCop come calling, I'll know why! :)

I wouldn't be too concerned about wandering off-topic, it's almost a spectator sport around here sometimes (Smivs has the gold medal IMHO).

But cluttering with lots of new topics on more or less the same/similar subject is frowned upon.

Thanks, Captain. I'll try to keep things neat, but I'm basically an untidy person so it's not easy. I'm sure there's an original copy of Spectrum Elite up in the loft -- and maybe even a Sinclair Spectrum to go along with it -- but it looks like the aftermath of a Thargoid strike up there. I'd like to find the game to see if there's any reference in the handbook to the Cougar (or should I say the Cat, since this is Oolite).

<Smivs has to derail the derailment of his thread :P >

But back on-topic, I've just uploaded v1.4.1 which includes another bugfix regarding repairs to the tanks. A rummage through my Archive shows this actually got broken back at v1.3
I'd therefore strongly recommend that all users update otherwise you might get stuck with an un-repairable tank :(

There isn't. There was no Cougar in the Spectrum Elite (not the copy I had, anyway).

Phew! You've just saved me a huge amount of work clearing the loft trying to find a game I might not still have, when the info I'm after isn't there anyway. Thanks, SandJ! :D
(Now I just have to explain to the wife why I'm not going to clear the loft like I promised).

It won't cost much more than hiring a skip anyway. 8)

Okay, here goes...

Bugger! Preview is telling me "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image."
I find http://imgur.com to be most comfy, easy to use, and nice.

at 30Cr a missile I would not call it dramatically.
The longer you play the better you'll know what ship will (can) or will (can) not feature an ECM.

Take a 2nd glance and find out why it actually isn't all that good, if you do not tweak it as Cmdr McLane did. 8)

As Capt. Murphy already said, you shouldn't be too concerned about all of this. Worrying about forum etiquette should in no case prevent you from posting what you have to post. Forum etiquette isn't that disconnected from RealLife(tm) etiquette.

So, I'd say at least 99% of the time it's just okay to not worry and simply do what your common sense tells you to do. :D

CommonSense says stand on one foot, rub your tummy and pat your head. :P

Now stop.

Did you stop?

You lose. I didn't say CommonSense says.

Hey, no, this is really good, SandJ. :D Trouble is, after 35 years’ marriage, she knows me too well -- I'd never pull it off.

Well, compared with the Python I'm currently flying, I have to say it looks pretty impressive even as standard -- same size cargo bay (no extension, admittedly); a lot faster; more manoeuvrable; 1 more energy bank; much better recharge rate. The only real downside I can see, to be honest, is the price. Do you have any specific concerns, Snork?

Having said all that, I must admit I'm presently favouring something smaller and faster still, like the Scimitar, maybe, or the Cat. (I'm hoping a really potent vessel will compensate for my distinctly mediocre flying skills). It has to be black, too -- I can't stress how important that is. A nice, shimmery, carbonfibre-like black, with a killer logo in red on the roof, to make the buggers quake in their boots as I come hammering down on 'em. (Can't wait to try out Smivs' tutorial on how to re-skin an existing vessel, actually).

A bit out of most people's price-range, but I think you'd like this

and you can fit ExtraFuelTanks to it as well  </ attempt to bring thread back on-topic>
