Yes, the image I tried to upload was 50k so it will refuse anything.
I've mailed Winston, so he he's hopefully soon aware.

Good news! I received a concise communiqué from our benefactor Space Lord Winston. I believe he has come to the rescue and mended the image upload/thumbnail issue, and increased the upload limit.

Good news indeed, thanks to our ArchWizards and Space Lord Winston. However, the upload limit for images is now at 1 MB, I believe, and some files proof it, it was higher before.
Dragonships OXP (5.69 MB) still got rejected by the wiki: 413 Request Entity Too Large

Strange, it looks like it should be at 8MB, and for the mercy of the browsing reader I would encourage images with some compression. I think my web-ready 50k jpg looks fine.

He did say it was moved to a completely new server, and some things might still be forgotten, a work in progress.
Can anyone recall exactly what the limits were before?

Most of my images are around 1 MB or below, and usually I am using thumbs, so there shouldn't be a hassle with browsing. In rare cases, it could happen that a file is above 1 MB, maybe 1.5 MB.

I believe the limit for OXZ's was 100 MB, for images I am not sure.

At least 2 Mb for images, if not more

Thanks for putting the Mandotech pages up on the wiki! And for categorising the Javascript pages. That was a lot of work. And I pray that all's well with you and your family.
Any chance of a confab regarding the two sets of systems pages on our wiki: Oolite Planet Lists & the Galaxy Guide?

Just now I encountered this problem - but not exactly this problem. I got the 'too large' error, but none of my images is >= 1MB. Rather:
Note that those are the respective sizes of the uncompressed images, i.e. the images when they are outside of the OXZ (really a ZIP) file (although I applied an image compressor to the files even before I zipped them, which means that in the case of most of the images the zipped size of the image is identical to the unzipped size).
I note further the following.
- With this upload - the one that failed - I had made no change to the images.
- The total size of this upload is, I think, slightly smaller than the previous version (because the only change, apart from the version number, was to have run a code prettifier that reduced the size of my script files).
- When I delete the images directory, the file does upload.
Strange!

Murgh, I've had the same issues since yesterday afternoon (no problems yesterday morning).
1) Is this something which
you might be able to fix, or do we need to bug Maik/Winston? I seem to remember that you used to do this sort of thing before you transmogrified yourself into the Older (and Wiser?) Murgh.
I could find nothing that seemed relevant in the Wiki's Special pages, but would not know where to look. Ditto for the phpBB 3.3 Proteus Documentation which seems more related to installing an update, than actually using it.
I did find https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgMaxUploadSize & https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:C ... le_uploads but am rather too timid to want to start mucking about with stuff I don't understand...
2) Side point: is there some sort of record somewhere for changes
to the Wiki (rather than just within the Wiki)? Can we ascertain if somebody did this by accident - or if it was some sort of automatic reset?

Ugh. No, back in the day everything worked smoothly so I never got confronted with that stuff.
The error is a strange one. I have had some problems recently when trying to replace files with a same/timilar name and the wiki assumes I am uploading an exact duplicate, which one gets around by using a different save name and deleting the original, but not applicable here I gather..
I’ll read the above more thoroughly when I get home to a large screen..

Just to see if I understand: the images are contained within your OXZ when the upload is denied, and same OXZ file is accepted as an upload if the pack doesn't contain the folder with these images..?
Very weird. Is there anything unusual about the format, these types of images have worked before? (I only ask because above it's not listed as regular png but "faststone png", and I gather the wiki is very file type sensitive..)
No, I have no savvy explanation.

No. The images appear as 'faststone.png' only because of how a file association is setup on the PC that is at issue. Once inside the OXZ, the files show as .png. The same holds for my other OXZs and the wiki is choking only on one of those OXZs, namely the one called 'ExtraThargoids'.
Thanks for investigating this weird situation, Murgh. Perhaps the wiki is infested with trumbles. Fumigation may be the answer.

It does seem like it.
I'm afraid we need a licensed fumigator.

I have investigated some more. I think I have a result.
The problem seems to owe to the size of the whole archive (or perhaps the combined size of the images). When my OXZ (ExtraThargoids, but I bet this applies to any of my OXPs) is smaller than 1MB, it uploads. When it is larger than 1 MB, it fails to upload.
