Oh, my-- I always liked the outlines of the Kraken, it reminded me of something Jules Verne, and now it looks even better. Any chance of getting that retexture posted someplace?

There you go ;)

It was actually just a test to see how difficult it was to retexture ships. If it was "easy" I was going to start making my own ships.
I hope its ok with the creator of the Kraken to ship ship-textures like this?

Nope, but it can do planetary landings (most of the time) :lol:

For basic ships I found it very easy to retexture. Once you start adding lighting effects and all, it certainly makes things more complicated, but my own ship is a retexture of the old Cobra Mk2 from one of the older oxps. I added some running lights and a few other things to the model, though.

As official spokes-being for D.T.T. Ship Builders Inc, when the company President is absent, I can assure you this is no problem. To quote Paradox himself:
"Released under Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share-Alike 4.0 license yada yada yada... I HIGHLY encourage you to change/modify this ship to meet your needs, I only ask that you give me credit for the original mesh/texture. Thanks and enjoy!"

(note to self, I really do need to get around to adding licensing to ALL the DTT ships)

[quote="Vincentz"] Statue of Liberty weighs 225 tons :lol:

She's largely hollow, though. :D

(Hmmmm.... So she's literallyy a hollow symbol of liberty, did the french have a sense of humour when they gave her to the US?? )

You can use this as an advantage for extra cargo space! :idea: :)

EDIT #1: But let's not get carried away more with these ideas... being humorous and being offensive are pretty adjacent behaviors.
EDIT #2: ...especially when it concerns symbols! :oops:

They may or may not have had a sense of humour at the time, but in retrospect, it certainly seems to have been prophetic, at any rate..

That's the core game starfield, with adjustments/additions made to the planetinfo.plist in my personal Config folder thus:

Code: Select all

"universal" =
	{
		ambient_level = 0.2;
		cloud_alpha = 0.2;
		nebula_count_multiplier = 0;
		star_count_multiplier = 20;
		sky_rgb_colors = "0.6 0.7 1.0 1.0 0.8 0.4";
		sun_distance_multiplier = 5;
	};
