May the Witchspace Lobster gaze favourably upon your endeavours!
Thank you for this blessing.

Congratulations to our 2 new archwizards of the wiki. As I can see in the logs both of you went straight to work.
Thank you.
Yes, I thought I might try a sample case and get a feel for the broom.

Since both Murgh and I are now gatekeepers for the wiki, you might wish to give us the benefits of your experience in detecting spambottery for potshotting purposes!

Ha! Username and email address are the usual giveaways. You may find
SFS useful for checking. Not much more I can add really.
For Big D and I, our spambot radars have become finely tuned over many years. We can detect bots at light-year distances.

It seems that with the new server, the size for uploads was reset again. Current maximum is 2 MB.

I've had a brief look and can find nothing obvious that I can twiddle with. I can however try and drive the ever-suffering Winston nuts again.
What maximum limit do we want?
Do we also want to add oxp's to the uploadable possibilities?

I think you should put it to Lord Winston. Code configuring the wiki's PHP seems beyond the scope of a library janitor on the third day on the job, even if raising the default 2MB to 100MB seems
conceivably doable.

100 MB should be sufficient for most of the packages. As much as I remember, for larger files an additional setup would be required. What was the reason that OXP's weren't included in the past ? Might be worth to check first before adding them.
Edit:
On a second thought, it would be nice it finally the counters would work reliable again.

You wouldn’t want OXPs as the upload type, as it’s not strictly a type but a series of files and folders. Zip and OXZ should be allowed though.

You are right, OXP is just a folder extension, it would require for example to permit plist and js files as well.

For clarity, what are the indications that it isn't reliable?
From what I can tell it relies on an
parser hook extension written by Maik, and unlike most of the extensions maintained by MediaWiki, the trail of clues end there. And um, going under the hood and yanking at parts feels beyond the scope of a library janitor on the fourth day on the job, a proper developer chap is needed. Dait is still sometimes around and this could be put to?
Oh, I see one of his last posts:

Is the OXZ download counter still not functioning? Any ideas, maik?
Will check, give me a few days. Thursday is a bank holiday over here : )
It hasn't been
that long

It seems to me that since this last upgrade, the ability to upload images also took a hit.
An
Error_creating_thumbnail error is what we get now, unless it's just me that has become sullied. –Another thing to bring to Winston if you're getting in touch.

The uploads are currently at default:

There might be other problems we even didn't recognize yet.

Just tried uploading a_c's screen shot:
1Mb according to the Upload page, 1.4Mb according to my Mac, but too large according to our wiki (2Mb is supposedly the new maximum...)
More specifically:
413 Request Entity Too Large
nginx/1.18.0
This has not previously been an issue...
