I get spam phone calls from people claiming to be from Microsoft about my PC being compromised (untraceable calls via Skype I guess because Ofcom can't do anything) - depending on my mood I either tell them to go forth and multiply or let them talk me through booting up my PC and what config options I need to edit and then I say I can't find them, so they try really hard and then I say "I don't think Ubuntu has that file..." there's a pause and then they either go potty with me for wasting THEIR time, or, knowing they've been rumbled, they immediately hang up...

Good one.
I have only had one scam call like this. For the first minute or so he had me going, sounded very professional, but he tripped up when he asked for my e-mail address and password because he wanted to send me a link. When I told him no he tried to give me a website link on the phone that was the length of your average novel. I quickly got annoyed and turned my head and said, "is the trace finished yet". He hung up.
We went through a phase of those, although caller-ID did show an unusual number so we generally knew ahead of time it was one of them. It became a game of who could come up with the best answering line, such as "Good afternoon, Sussex Police, computer fraud department, how can we help you?" or "Microsoft support helpdesk, <random name here> speaking..." or suchlike.

Plus there was of course the wife's "hang on, I'll go and get my husband, he deals with that sort of thing" and then putting the phone aside and going back to whatever she was doing for a half-hour or so.

After the third or forth time they stopped, rather spoiling our fun.

Has 10 hits on SFS, and many but irrelevant hits on Google.
10 min on line.
One to watch closely.

(It's a common enough name that I think lots of people – real and bot – might use it. Email and IP check out clean so far ... with first posts requiring moderator authorisation I'd rather presume innocence without further evidence, but we'll keep them under observation!)

I got one,

Cadlittee https://bb.oolite.space/memberlist.p ... le&u=17303

Spammy looking profile. Website goes to Polish Google for some reason.
(The plan, no doubt, is for the bot to come back and edit that link at a later date ...)

Absolutely, hence my comment about this being one to watch. Last report on SFS was on the 10th Nov, the one before that in August, and they all have different e-mail addresses, so it's a bit vague. And with this being the friendliest board this side of Riedquat, all are presumed innocent until otherwise proven.

I have my suspicions over,

Clean!

Weather it is the timing with the other spam or the really short time. Not sure.
