New wiki page: Exploration

I've linked it into the Career Options page.

I'd greatly appreciate some feedback (errors/omissions/suggestions etc.).

New wiki category: Navies

The page has an introduction trying to give an overview of the variety on offer, rather than just the usual less helpful list.

I'd greatly appreciate some feedback (errors/omissions/suggestions etc.).

I've not bothered linking in the zilllion-and-one Galactic-Navy-category pages, just what seem to be the important ones.

Having made a tiny edit on the Exploration page (SOTL section), this dumb pilot has just discovered that messages can be sent on the Wiki.
I'll think something up for Ceerti after lunch (or tonight). The Navies page seems fine to me - good work, Cholly!

On another subject: it won't have escaped your attention that I dislike the term "Galaxy", but I dislike the term "Sector" even more!

Nice job Cholmondely, at a first look it certainly looks good. I need to look a little deeper when I have time, but I guess I will not find much.

Edit:
The Assassins Guild OXP with the ships of the Eszausveian Dictatorship probably belongs to this category. The Daemon Class Cruiser would be an example.

"Galaxy" obviously makes no sense, and it took a while to change most to "Sector". What suggestions you would have Cody ?

I've used "Octant" for a long time, but I guess we're stuck with "Galaxy" as that's what the game calls them. I use "Sector" to describe sections of a chart, like the Rift Worlds, which consists of three groups of worlds, only two of which are named (according to ClymAngus' charts). I wasn't around much when those charts were being named, so I only got to name one sector (Ramaan's Keep).

I believe Solo's excellent charts name the Rift Worlds as Baying Wolf, which is perfect!

"Octant" sounds pretty good to me, divided in sectors. I wonder what the rest of the noways small community is thinking about it. For sure it would be a challenge to change the wiki, not even mentioning the core-game.

Ha! If I could rename the core-game galaxy titles, I'd use the names from another version of Elite:
  • G1. Santaari
    G2. Colesque
    G3. Lara’tan
    G4. Angiana
    G5. Proximus
    G6. Sol
    G7. Jaftra
    G8. Xrata

An octant is half a quadrant. It is as obvious as four gills make up a pint... ;-)

How about '(Star) Cluster'?

Each represents a group of stars in relative close proximity; so if they're not big enough for dwarf galaxies then...

Globular Cluster Alpha; Globular Cluster Beta; etc... <grins>

Don't be ridiculous!
It would be: Open Cluster Alpha; Open Cluster Beta; etc. :P

Well, I never worry about anything less than a pint when ordering in a pub, which why Cologne kind of drove me nuts, what they call beer glasses in other countries is used for spirits.

I admit I like it more than Octant, more realistic as well.
