* (a case in point: the member name is clean, but the email address had 135 hits. The tagging work by all the spam assassins provides an excellent signal to noise ratio and is a huge help in sorting out the wheat from the spam, so to speak ...)
One to watch, perhaps.

Clean on SFS but some strange results on google.

No – just another basic link pimp ... SFS now has 10 hits for this user name, all with today's date. Stick the name into Google and see all the forums it's glommed on to. The link given in a link pimp's profile on registration may not be the link it's intended to pimp: this can be edited at a later date (if it's allowed to hang around on the forum, that is).

Some spam bots really do have an imagination,

Nildfoldepe https://bb.oolite.space/memberlist.p ... le&u=16370

Occupation: ÿþA
Interests: Ghost Hunting

Advertising factor-x.pl

A really obvious target!

SFS? I had to google for it, I'm a bit of an anacronism...

Let's put it this way: while I'm in 1940 London, trying to visually figure out who's who before I fire, you've got radar, zoom video cameras and IFF ID on your HUDs.

There is also BotScout to double check. Also good if SFS is down. http://www.botscout.com/

But since the Bots are getting smarter the tools to shoot them down are progressing as well. It's an arms race which needs constant vigilance.

It's sad really. It's like there's a daily Turing test going on, with the ultimate prize being the ability to spam internet forums at will. Who'd have thought way back then that the idea of computer AI would end up going down this route?

That's why we rely on HI (human intelligence). If the AIs ever got to the point when they succeeded we would have lost the war and the computers would rule us all.
