Aren't you guys being just a little bit too indiscriminate?

No, not really. We 'background check' so to speak with Google and SFS to avoid mistagging. But some spambots aren't always reported on those resources, and those we mark for watching. If they try to spam *bang* they're history.

Also, only me and Disembodied are allowed to see joining emails and IPs, these oft show up as spammy whereas a new user name does not (yet). The tags are much appreciated and are subsequently deleted if the tagged for watch turns out to be a genuine member. I think we're possibly the most spam free forum there is and I'm quite happy to keep it that way.
