The Duke (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/V ... ukeNukem3D) was himself referencing They Live (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/F ... n.TheyLive). And the random sentence building word tables in Randoms Hits reference both (amongst others). :)

Nice.. although until I remembered about your damage textures, I was wondering why the Krait had a wart on its' nose!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

What's in a name? These two would seem to be dastardly bandits...

... but no, they were both clean Cobras, and part of an Anaconda's escort squad.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Let's say it was inspired by a certain space telescope with a funny name... :D

Did you know that NASA have a large number of 3D models available of their various craft? This includes both the Hubble and also James Webb space telescopes?

Their full list of models is here

So is somebody up for making the "Leesti Orbital Space Museum" featuring artefacts from humanities first steps into space?

TBH I far prefer Rorschachhamster's version over a 99.9% accurate one.

I mean, it's cool and all that NASA supplying the 'real' models but the closer you get to the original, the more the minute differences feel jarring. You never get textures 100% right et c, you always feel 'close but no cigar'

Rorschachhamster's does not have that problem, it's just a very cool model, in an 'alternate' universe.

Bit the same as with music synthesis, the hunt for the perfect emulation of sounds, analog modeling, physical modeling, they get very close to 'real analog, or 'real piano sounds etc, but the closer you come, the more you say: it isn't *exactly* the same, and you feel frustrated....

... instead of using said magnificent tools to create something new, and not trying to get the elusive 'original' 100% right. (Hint: that's just impossiburu! )

...and even more important, I had fun creating them from scratch. (The texture on the blunt end of it was created by me taking a shot of my bass' fretboard with my webcam, for example... :D ).

Edit: Release!

I have always suspected that there may be a floating boundary between escorts and pirates. After all, it makes sense to hire somebody as an escort who actually knows a thing or two about pirates and their tactics.

Aye, it does make sense - and they fought well too. The Anaconda's six escorts did not need my help!

Tried out Cim's Camera Drones and got me a new desktop image. I don't know how E:D is going to turn out but it won't be looking any better than Oolite.

Image

I resized it because I don't want to mess with peoples screensizes but on 1600x1050 it looks gorgeous.
