Oh, my God! This ship is an advertisement for the game. Deserves all the praise it will get. Here it is again, launching from the Trade Outpost at Lave:
Griff, my compliments for this superb design.
Edit: So awesome, it deserves another shot.

This Internet over here, and that one over there too!
But actually, I’ve decided to mess about and take my own high-resolution snapshots instead. GriffPorn in HD!

Griff, as usual I doff my hat to your awesomeness.
You sir, are a god of modeling, and too cool for school.

Personally i also love Selezen's job hereWolfwood wrote:I'm sure that it would be OK for everyone if Griff made a replacement set of all Oolite ships as a Christmas gift to the Oolite community, eh?
It could even be distributed as part of the basic Oolite package, activated by selecting "high quality" or some such in some menu.

From what i can see a lot of the ships in the basic set are already ready
Maybe a common effort will be even better

With work such as this, it is best I feel, to put little pressure on it. He who expects, will mostly suffer disappointment, those that wish for nothing are content with even the smallest acts of sacrifice. Must have taken a lot of time Griff, good work. I take it your employed in the game industry?Wolfwood wrote:I'm sure that it would be OK for everyone if Griff made a replacement set of all Oolite ships as a Christmas gift to the Oolite community, eh?

no i work in IT as a general Support tehnician, but i did go to art college to study textile design and i've been lucky enough to be able to play about with art packages on the PC for (blimey!) about 15 years now!
A lot of the goodness in the griff boa comes from the shaders that the devs have built into Oolite, without Ahrumans shader examples i wouldn't have got anywhere.
I've only managed to do 2 ships in 2 years so i'm a long way off doing them all , but it might be a really cool project for us all paint out effects maps and add shaders to all the ships that come with the standard game, things like engine heat & laser glows, illuminated cockpits etc?

Indeed - just need someone to make shader layers for those ships as well, and they would be good to go (not that they aren't great as they are, but the shaders really make the graphics so much more realistic...),Ark wrote:Personally i also love Selezen's job here
