Give me a day or two - life's chaos with new carpets and a whole raft of new furniture in 3 rooms. All sorts of stuff now in all sorts of weird places and I can't get into my study at all...

Hmm, interesting insight into the interior of a Thargoid warship.

If you ask me, he is taking on the role of Arthur Dent after his house was demolished, and thus setting the scene for his quiz question.

OK: It's a TV series about a guy who is supposed to be the shining hero (albeit one with quite some flaws), even though he is personally responsible for the biggest genocide ever "successfully" commited in any other SciFi story that I know of - it makes World War II look like a tavern brawl with just two drunks involved.
Y’know, this reminds me of the utterly insane redemption of Darth Vader. OK, so he wiped out hundreds of billions of people, but hey, in the end he still loved his son.

Soft sci-fi is definitely the #2 genre for really messed-up moral messages.

It was an US or Them situation with the Daleks.

There is a tvtropes page containing plot summaries in this style, which turn out to be valid for two or more completely unrelated stories/books/movies/series. Don't remember the trope title right now, though.

What would you deem the #1 genre for that then: Soaps, or Fox News? Image

Weeell ... did you see End of Time, the very last episode publicly shown yet? Because it was more like an "US or everybody else" situation ... with the Time Lords.

OK, quick and easy one as I'm in a rush.

In the late 70's/early 80's TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, what was the name of the robot sidekick and who provided his voice?

You really don't wanna know. Given the battle I've just had with some of it I'm definitely recommending it for our covert infiltration heavy weaponry programme ;)

That would be Twiki, voiced by Mel Blanc ("biddi-biddi-biddi"). Although for a couple of episodes in the second season the voice was provided by Bob Elyea.

I remember the ad Warner ran when Mel Blanc died - it was all the cartoon characters stood off to one side with an an empty mike on the other and a single word "Speechless" - very poignant.

TV Trivia moment - Some of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (TV pilot) was filmed where I used to work - The Rutherford Appleton Laboratories.
