I think it's because I'm online when no other users (but spammers) are on, so when I catch something the notice in this thread is read in the morning, hours after being posted, and the spammers are still there. It's just one more disadvantage of me living in a different time zone. But the fact that I am on when nobody else is could be an advantage. I do the "night shift".
No, I think it's because you might have been adding a * to your own posts! :D (see 5 posts up)
Sorry, I don't know what the *s are for. I guessed the red ones were for undeleted spam, but it seems that they mean the opposite. Sorry, Assassins.

No problem, it's a bit confusing! Basically, us ordinary spam assassins flag up suspicious accounts, thus:
crisbush5: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=12929

1 hit on SFS (11 for all variations of "crisbush").
usually with some reason for our suspicions. DaddyHoggy and El Viejo then come along and, if they agree that it's spammy, they'll delete the account. To show that the account is now deleted, they'll edit the original post and mark it with a * (EV uses a black one, DH favours red):
*

crisbush5: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=12929

1 hit on SFS (11 for all variations of "crisbush").
A * of any colour on the post means that the flagged account has been terminated.

Same here, especially when it's the blood of spammers. Speaking of spammers, let's go find some more (and nuke them)!

Indeed - scarring is fading gently to pink at the moment...

One other profile out there ... the whole UpperLower case thing looks dodgy to me.

I tagged some spam a while ago that was VERY similar. Actually, even the website was the same. The username is the only difference. Repeat offender, but with a new username?

Somewhere there's a programme cycling through it's username generator, joining the same BBs over and over and over again...

Kill. Multiple disparate forum memberships and a whole page to himself on SFS

He He - by the time I'd nipped off to SFS to check the IP El Viejo had killed the spammer and by the time I went to ban the IP instead, he'd done that too - he's very proficient for a man in a sombrero...
