Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

This version Enterprise is the one from Star Trek 2 and 3 which I am 99% sure was a Constitution Class. With regard to the flashers I don't have any particular preference. I modelled it based on footage on YouTube where both were white so I have used yellow which is just about as close to white as I can get using XML code (I understand you can specify white flashers now in OpenStep but guess that you can't mix and match).
As I can’t get the white I want using XML, (Unless anyone out their can tell me different), I'll probably think about tweaking the nacelles flasher colours to red and green tomorrow.

With regard to the vertex/face counts the .dat file gives 2425 verts and 4718 faces.

Not true. You can declare white flashers with the new style subentitity definition (as opposed to the old style which you may still be using). Whether you do that in XML or OpenStep is entirely up to your liking. Both syntaxes are totally convertible into each other and carry no practical differences whatsoever.Shipbuilder wrote:With regard to the flashers I don't have any particular preference. Don't get too deep into a fake controversy between OpenStep and XML. Personally I think that both have their advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I prefer XML for shipdata, because it allows for a greater variety in value types. For instance you can have integers and real numbers, and you can have booleans, which is not possible in OpenStep. But Oolite converts all these into something it can use all by itself, so you don't really need to care. At the end of the day, OpenStep and XML are totally and completely interchangeable. It really doesn't matter which one you use. There is not the slightest little bit which you could only do in one of the formats.

Original Series Enterprise was Constitution-class. It was refitted and upgraded between the end of the series and ST:TMP and was classified as Constitution-class (Refit). After the original's destruction in ST3, the new replacement was still a Constitution-class (Refit). Constellation Class is the class of ship the Stargazer, Picard's first command, belongs to.
TNG Enterprise is Galaxy class.
