It looks gnarly. I'll have to get it and try it out........whenever I get back to actually playing the game. :)

cool screenshots mandoman, nice model & texture work too - they're really lighting nicely in game -no visible smoothing issues at all -great stuff!

Do you think so? I've been applying smoothing, and quads to tries, and have seen marked improvement, but it seems to me that I still get the jagged edge effect. I'm trying to texture outside my comfort zone, lately, hoping that would settle some of it. I remember DaddyHoggy trying to convince me not to use the faces in Blender for determining paint lines, and sections, but I'm afraid I still do it at times.

Right now I'm working on the "Jade Shadow", from the post movie book series of Star Wars, but that's far from completion. It's really kind of complicated, but I think I can pull it off.

Here is a ship I first encountered in the post Star Wars movies book series. The ship belonged to a character named Mara Jade, who originally was closely associated with Emperor Palpatine, but later converted to the Jedi order, and married Luke Skywalker. Anyway, this ship, and it's continued improvements, continued on through the book series, and is still being used in the present series by Luke Skywalker, after the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. The Jade Shadow is no where near completed, and I must post that this design is in no way my own, but belongs to Lucas Arts.

Great looking model Mandoman. I look forward to seeing how you develop this ship :-)

Thanks Shipbuilder. I didn't really know what it looked like while reading the books, but it sounded intriguing. There seems to be a couple of variations on what the ship looks like, and I'm trying to build the one I like the best. As you can guess, some of the weaponry just won't work as intended in Oolite, but I'll probably put the ships weapons as shown in the pics I have, with mini-ball turrets in some of them. It's not the same as the original Star Wars concept of ships weapons, but it should work. :)

The JadeShadow is basically finished. I just have to double check it, polish any little things I find wrong, and it should be ready. Here are a couple of pics.

Mandoman, what I like about your modelling is your seemingly fearless approach (if it exists, you'll probably model it), your prolific output (has anyone else released so many models?) and your sheer inventiveness (you've made a blimp and even a guitar  ).

These qualities mean that your models have got better and better.
You've made some quirky classics and increasingly you're one of the 'go to' guys for tackling difficult projects.
I mean, just look at this latest one. How long did that take?

I salute you sir! :D (er... assuming it is sir of course  )

I thank you most kindly for your generous words. You're right, I have lots of ideas........too many ideas. I've found myself twisting a ship into a knot (hey, I didn't think of that one), because I took a couple of steps I shouldn't have. You are very right about the time put into the JadeShadow. I think I started it in July, 2013. However, if you want to see modeling at it's finest, check out the model Staer9 posted in the 3D Blender Tutorial topic. I dream of modeling like that with Blender. I can come close to that with plastic, but even my best attempts with any material can't match Staer9's ability. :)

Well if it were a 'she' then her name would be Mando-girl and sound like a superhero

Now for the thread derailment while we discuss what kind of super power she would have!

I'd say they were 'harmless' but on this forum that might be an insult to two such experienced individuals
