good luck with the texturing, it looks like you've recreated the model perfectly!
I expect the chessboard bit in the first picture is just a temporary texture to test for UV distortion on that bit of the mesh before it gets it's proper texture applied not part of the final design

I guess the core systems are all the ones of tech level 12 and above

I'd read "Core Systems" as being a manufacturer, not a collection of planets! Works either way, though.

If I had time - there'd be a YAH Ad based on that! (Perhaps based on the old Total Annihilation stuff...)

Just started texturing and realized how ridiculously hard it is... it may take some time, I hope to release a screenshot on tuesday
