Having seen some nice movie posters etc for it in the States recently, I'd love to see one of you shader-dudes skin up a nice Tron Legacy Cobra. Nice and dark, but with suitably neon-glowing decals in the line and circle stylie...

OK. I can't get the drag and drop method to work, but I have found a way to make it work! Nice end result!! Excellent little oxp!

Hi Star Gazer,
I just saw your first post...no idea what's happening, as it sounds like you're doing everything OK. It might be a Mac thing, I don't really know if the Mac version of Gimp is different.
I'm glad you've sorted it out, and thanks for the positive feedback.
Cheers,
Smivs.

That's nice as well. :) Interesting concept.

Just a thought (admins) should this be split off as a new thread, "Cobra Custom Paintjobs" perhaps.
Hi Smivs,

Your OXP offers a good Stand Alone ship to play with. Maybe we could release a special version Cobra edition with altered specs.

Sea Twist would have atmospheric flight as standard but would have an decrease in speed or missile bays as a result?
Digital Vintage Edition could be more a fighters dream.

Any ideas on that?

Hi PAG,

Might be cool. I won't be able to do much if anything toward it as I've got quite a bit on at the moment* but if you want to go ahead please do. You can use any parts of this OXP and if you want/need anything else for it let me know.

* Sort of Plug:-
Smivs'Shipset v3.0 is now only around a week away from being release-fodder, but I want to give it a thorough shake down first. After that the WIP new Contractor is in want of some attention. McLane's 'bountyhunter' script seems to be working well which has resolved one hold-up, but I've had a thought about adding a completely new Player/NPC variant as well, and that might take a while to develop.
Then there's the Liners....

First results aren't bad, I'm going to carry on playing on with it...

This is Sriam Nunkir's Dragon's Breath - originally an Abominator in the EV Nova universe, but a Cobra III is slightly similar! Maybe I can finally assemble a file for the personalities oxp.

Like that! Sort of mean and broody.
If you wanted to darken the hatch to blend it in, open that 'layer' seperately and try bucket-filling the hatch with a low opacity - 20%? - which should darken the hatch but leave the yellow highlighting. That might look quite good.

Thanks - there is still some panel texture when you look at it in flight.

Yep, that was to be my next change. It took ages to find a suitable dragon for the decals on the top and bottom, but in the end I found one that was almost perfect: Image
I stripped away the edge and made the surround transparent to leave just the red and black.

Can I ask which oxp provides the background we are seeing here?

Cheers

Sorry, yes, I should have credited the BGS set as the background. It really does upgrade the whole basic look of Oolite to the quality of any first-rate commercial game. Elite IV eat your heart out!!
