I liked how it gave me a short-term objective in the game.
That would be nice of course. I actually was looking for bugs in the code and if this way allowed for easy money. : It looked at first, but I think it's counter productive on the long run. Better would be to deliver the passenger and do trade on the way to the goal.

I'd say go for an adder with injectors and scoop,
especially the racing adders are nimble.
If you got Murghs rusties oxp installed, trading down to an old C=3
gives you some quick money for investing, trade up to a shiney C=3 when you got enough cred for the stuff that the rustbucket has no brackets for.

Hi, A_H!
Nice to see you dropping in!

I just checked, it has been almost a year.
Hope you're doing well.

Adder with scoop? It has hardly a bay to store the cargo you scoop
And good to hear from you again. Have you already tried out the new oolite 1.74? You should. It supports a lot of new features that I also incorporated in your C_W teaser.

I too had to check last time A_H made a posting - scary how quickly time slides by!
Thirded - nice to see you back!

Thanks for still remembering me captains.
I've been well, but stressing out about uni papers is really bad for my creative juices. (Don't allow myself to have much fun. ) ;p
Should take a look what I can salvage from the old projects. I had a pretty nice custom C=3 using the early shaders and a PPC that more closely resembled the original.
The JS scares me, but I have been trying to write some code again recently (in python, not very fruitful though), so I may be up to it by now.
Really lovely how the shaders and scriptability have progressed!
You guys have made the wrex I dreamed of a reality!
I may dig out the pad I barely used since buying it and draw some animated adverts! Those were real fun to do.
EDIT: yes!! I found backup copies of most of my oo-dev junk!
...

not recovered my 'Grey Rose' C=3 though.

I've had reasonable luck shooting down hardened missiles (which I think the OP is talking about). Assuming a non-combat situation (you've killed or disabled whatever fired at you and their friends have high tailed), get the missile in your six and witchspeed forward maybe 5km, and with use of the yaw keys you can quite often - maybe not 1 in 3, but still a useful number of times - pick them off with your rear laser.
Or if you have a full fuel tank, just witchspeed until your status turns green.
I'm not a good enough shot to shoot down missiles coming in from the front, however :|

Thanks FeelGone.
I need to brush up on my aft laser skills, and what better way to do it than with a laser chasing my behind!

Have you tried the Automatic Chaff System OXP? This is what I use, and it works very well. Hardly ever die from missile attacks now.

A lot will depend on how strong your shields are. If you have boosters and Military shield enhancement you should survive a missile hit providing your shields are at full strength.
Tactics:-
Slow right down...a missile might detonate near you rather than hitting you and the force is less.
Turn round quickly...your aft shield may be at full strength even if the front is weak.
Use the ECM several times...ECM works on range and frequency, so if the first use doesn't get the missile a subsequent use might (but watch your energy levels).
Run away! I know this sounds obvious but most ships under witch-drive will out-run a missile until it runs out of fuel.
If you've got one, use your cloaking device. The missile loses its lock on you and self-destructs.

There really isn't a decent defense against an ECM-resistant missile fired less than 2 seconds before the enemy passes you head on. Even a regular missile may be able to hit you before you can ECM. The problem seems to be collision handling related and a bit of ugly realism. Head-on, a missile can almost bury into your ship before detonating. Unsurvivable even with full shields, shield booster, and military shields.
