From the image, I have worked out your stats as follows:
  • Cmdr McLane - Elite - 13112 kills - 1140 days, 11.50 kills per day
Top of both tables! Particularly impressed by the kill rate!

Thanks! :D

One of the things that gives me a boost is hanging around in witchspace. Just before I took the screenshot there was a particularly nasty battle between Thargoids and the Navy. At a certain point most of the capitol ships fell victim to a cascade thargon, but there were still around eighty disabled Thargons left when everything was over. Cue me boosting my score a full 80 points (oh, and then some 20 more for finishing off a couple of left-over Navy ships and some Battle Bots).

The other way of boosting my score is to not leave a single living thing on my way from witchpoint to station. I do this most of the time, except when I'm in some hurry. Has the side effect of boosting my income as well. I usually jump in at the witchpoint with no cargo at all, and dock at the station with my 100t cargo hold filled up at least to two thirds. 8)

And I dare you to call me a pirate, or you will find yourself on the receiving end of my military laser! (And your cargo, and possibly you as well, will make the acquaintance of a nice Imperial Courier cargo hold.)

I don't think, however, that a year in Oolite is made of 1000 days. At least I don't know any canonic hint about this. Where is this information from? I would suppose that a year has 365 days, unless proven otherwise.
Of course, I bow to Commander McLane’s superior knowledge of the game, and it’s ‘canon’. (That’s an impressive kill rate, McLane, btw). I know zilch about ‘canon’ or ‘timelines’, I’m just a Cobra pilot. However, it amounts to the same thing… it’s just how I make sense of my ship clock. If it’s 2084004, after 6000 days it becomes 2090004, or if it’s 2084.004 after 6 years at 1000 days per year it becomes 2090.004. The notion of a ‘year’ in space is rubbish really, but it’s easier for me to think in those terms (too much deep immersion, maybe). There’s an old thread here, that throws up a few ‘suggestions’ as to how it came about. (There’s an even older thread somewhere, but I can’t find it).

I have 10791 kills making me Elite and it's 2086007 which is about 5 a day average.
These days I tend to make shorter jumps and would probably kill at least 5 on a jump, large convoys are no deterent, the opposite actually. It's like waving a flag saying.
"OOo look I need so many ships to protect my valuable cargo, come have a look"

My primary Commander:

I think that works out to about 2.8 kills per 'day'.

Game statistics… a year or more ago, before I discovered Oolite, I was playing one of those ‘flash graphics/poor action’ space combat games (it might have been Spaceforce: Rogue Universe) for a few weeks. It had a whole page of player career stats available in-game, mostly useless… everything bought or sold, all upgrades, missions completed, etc. The only really interesting stat was the record of ships that the player had had shot from under him, i.e. how many ‘Press Space Commander’ events. I wonder how many times I’ve been atomised in my Oolite career so far? It’d be another interesting way of rating a Commander’s skill.

My clock for main commander says 2097224:00:53:36

After launch it says 2097224:01:04:30 (it takes an hour or so to launch)

witchspace to Laeser, a 13 hour jump

..clock reads 2097224:14:02:55

so my clock =2097(year)224(days):14(hours):02(minutes):55(seconds)

(oh, I see .. being more obtuse than usual this marning)

so my kill rate is 10.06/day

This commander has been killing Thargoids/running large contracts for some time accruing many barnacles so probably not a good comparison; he/she/it maintains kills @ credits ÷ 1000

Have updated the table to include Alex and El Viejo.

Uh, that's ten minutes. Which is the default time a launch takes in Oolite.

So you have 132,993 kills ? Wow!

-----------------------------------

However non-canonical or what this 1000 days = 1 year idea is : I like it very much. Thank you, el Viejo. :)

The large number always somehow kept me from keeping track with time without calculating.
Seeing the first 4 digits as "year" strangely easens this a lot.
Goes to show how strangeways my brain sometimes works.

Police included ? I wonder about your "clean" status.

I think I soon may start a criminal career, now that money as a goal is no more so present for me.

No, police not included. I also withhold my natural killer instincts when police are in the vicinity.

Therefore I am more interested in feudal than in corporate systems. In the latter you rarely get a clean shot on a lonely trader.

Added Zbond Zbond to the table, using the calculated kill score of 132993. Is this score right, ZZ?

Hey,

Gareth3377, mighty pirate (to borrow from another game ho ho).

An impressive 92 kills here.

Often adopt the Pythonesque 'Run Away' strategy...

Blaze O'Glory's on 3266 kills in 862 days – that's a rate of nearly 3.79 per day. Which is higher than I'd expected! Although of course this isn't adjusted for kill bonuses, e.g. for the Constrictor mission ... :D

I'm the best. My deadly reputation precedes me. Whichever galaxy I am in, I never met any other players only game controlled ships. all the players have already fled upon news of my impending arrival.

:D

494 kills. I don't actually kill all that much.
