Do you have any tutorials online? You should do either a little tutorial on these forums or, if you have the software, do a screencast and put it on YouTube.
I'd especially like to know how those subtle markings and effects on the red n' silver Cobra were done... but if you don't want to reveal your secrets.

Ha ha lets just say having access to a graphics tablet is essential.

{several very, very nice ship pics snaffled from here...}
Um, mebbe "meal-tickets", "collateral damage" or "targets of opportunity"?

I sent a PM a while ago, but got no response, so I'd like to bump this to ask how much closer to completion you are DeepSpace?
Any rough estimate? You do know how much those of us without shaders are looking forward to these, don't you?

Hi poro sorry about not answering. I thought I had replied to all my messages. To answer your question, hopefully not long now reviewing the number of ships left to do I find there's not many, probably 3 or so.
So hopefully within the month or so, real life permitting

DeepSpace Ships OXP nearing completion!!!
All major ships are now complete, just two minor ships (the Shuttle and the Worm)
A couple of objects - Q BOMB and Gun Turret and it'll be done!
Stay Tuned!

Woohoo! It's still coded as a replacement, right?

They're simply intended as replacements for the default ships. Generally its just a texture change. But I've tried to do everything within the game.

Then I have to decide between your's and Griff's - but since I expect yours to be colorful with simple shaders...
(on the other hand, yeah, I could just alter Griff's so your ships would still appear
)

Griffs ships are superb, I really like them. If everything in the game looked like his stuff it would be awesome. Can you imagine the kind of detail he'd have in something like the Navigation Beacon? But if I had Griffs ships and still came across the default Nav beacon for instance it would be very jarring.
Thats why I've opted to do as much of the ships and objects as I can.
So even if you have Griffs ships and my pack you'll have some nicely textured ordinary stuff like nav beacons ha ha..

Hehe nice work, I'd be more than happy to make normal maps and glow maps of these if you want, I did the same thing for Sungs textures and it turned out quite well.
As for it being a replacer, it really isn't that hard to change them to non-replacers in the shipdata.plist and will do so to my copy when it is finally released.
That way i'll have DeepSpace's, Sungs Shaderfied Textures, Neolites, Griffs, Rusties, Original, and My unreleased Neolites retextured (still WIP) all together in one game
Talk about variety hehe.

Good to hear. Well some glow maps would be great for the engines and cockpit windows
once it's released if you want to do some that's completely up to you I'd be very interested in seeing the results.

I love knocking up little graphic thingies.
Here's a comparison of original Elite and Deepspace OXP'd Oolite.
Note that in the pics are shown my new RETRO HUD and original Deepspace HUD. Both available from my OXP webpage -

26 years! Wow and still no Elite IV!?!?!?
PS. ETA Deepspace Ships OXP will (fingers crossed) be this weekend.

Nice pic, DeepSpace. I have to say, I love the retro HUD.
