Hey,

Just started playing my Commander again after a short stint of pretending to code, and I happened to actually be on the Spacelane on my way somewhere! Sotiqu to Esusti, so of course I had to take a shipment of Textiles *g*

Looking and sounding very nice :) Even met an outbound Spaceliner on my first run.

One little niggle though - the docs say that to enable the FP Oolite theme music, the player should copy it into the app-dir of Oolite, replacing (after backing up) the original Oolite theme. IMHO it would be better to tell players to just move the theme music from the FPOolitheTheme (spelling mistake there too - should it be FPOoliteTheme? :) folder into the Music folder within the FP2 OXP instead of fiddling with the installation directory.

Cheers, and keep up the great work!

But then it doesn't work because this tune is a replacement for the main Oolite Theme song.
Or did you find a workaround??

giving something in an OXP folder the same name as something in the native game should have the effect of replacing the native sound / ai / ship or whatever. The native version isn't lost though, as if you take the OXP out then the native one is used again. So putting the tune in the OXPs Music folder should overwrite automatically.

Now also on the WIKI. In a very very simple from. I will expand on that later:

Mmmm I tried to update the planet pages of the WIKI this weekend but there seems to be no possibility to upload new pictures. So I canceled the update on the WIKI. Am I the only one who can't upload illustrations or is this a new limitation because of the WIKI problems?

Just got my oolite working again and installed this - fantastic job!

The only thing I noticed is that Tianve is in the OXP and mentioned in the documentation pdf, but there is no planet specific write up like the other famous planets?

Cheers,

Drew.

How about, Tianve: (I've combined my stuff with the excellent 'rough guide' material...)

"Tianve is most noted for its famous pulsar, the top tourist attraction in the North East quadrant of G1. It is recommended you book in advance to visit the pulsar as it can get extremely busy. It is estimated that around 30 Million individuals visit the Pulsar each standard Lave-Year.

The Pulsar is the only one known in drive range and much of Tianve's economy is geared around this. The famous Murgh 'SpaceFlare' Tourist Liners are available for luxury hire or you may make your own way to the pulsar in Special Rental Vehicles available from the main Coriolis station. If you do visit in your own vessel it is advised to have heat shielding and shield boosting technology installed beforehand. (Available at Tianve's main Tori Station - 'Felix Prime'.)

The planet is natively inhabited by a friendly race of blue-furred feline lifeforms. It is said they owe their colouration to the nearby pulsar. The inhabitants are therefore often referred to esoterically as the 'Pulsar Cats'.

The strong radiation from both the normal Tianve star and the pulsar forces the inhabitants to be cautious when going outside although the Pulsar Cats have developed special skin DNA that can resist radiation for a much longer time.

Tourists that make the trip down to the surface are handed special suits and anti-radiation capsules. However after they've taken the necessary precautions they often are stunned by the beauty. The atmosphere colors the landscape in an eerie but beautiful blue.

Visitors please note that Zero-Gee Cricket is banned on Tianve at the request of the native feline population, and food-blenders are an illegal import as they bear a striking resemblance to a significant set of holy feline relics.

Tianve is also home to the Elite Combateer 'Rebecca Weston', famously decorated in the Thargoid war of 3151. Details on Tianve's most famous resident can be found in the Tionisla Chronicle publications - 'Status Quo' and 'Mutabilis'."

Feel free to edit for length!

Cheers,

Drew.

I started to work on expanding the Famous Planets series to Galaxy2. Inspired by the regions and routes of the vectormaps:

See this thread:
https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t= ... sc&start=0

I already started on Teonan and Isonza. Both are in the Teonan Web region.
Also for details see page 29 of the same thread:

https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t= ... &start=420

Hoping to have a next version by the end of the year :)

Do mind that the planets shown here are not yet in the package. These latest screenshots are WIP.
