It started with Pertwee, the brigadier, Jo and Bessie the car for me... but Tom won me over.

@L - I started with Tom Baker* - who was your first doctor? (technically I started with John Pertwee but I don't remember sitting on my dad's lap not watching the screen)
I really only started to watch regularly in 2005 with season 1/27, as 1989 and earlier it wasn`t easy in german-speaking countries to watch DW ... so my first Doctor might actually be the ninth - Ecclestone`s.

In the meantime, I have watched episodes with all ten Doctor`s that have yet been and even watched the pilot episode with Hartnell (the first Doctor`s actor) this year :)

Now, watching the finale of the four seasons since 2005 - rather thrilling ...

@L - as ever I forget that this is an international forum and presume English language/culture by default - sorry. I used to watch ST:TNG in German (RTL?) when my subscription to Sky ran out - they were re-runs so I knew the episodes but I couldn't get over the dubbed German voices - didn't they listen to the original actors first!?

My ex used to be based in Germany - Karlsruhe and I did try to learn the language (evening classes) but its a skill fade - as soon as the classes stopped my German faded away to nothing (although I still remember most of the porn telephone numbers that RTL used to run in the breaks!)

Tom Baker hit the states in the late 1970's and I was hooked (much to my sister's chagrin). I owned the TV on Saturday mornings between 9 and 10.

@R - until David T came along Tom B was the best Doctor who ever (he may still be - DT has better scripts and better SFX so its hard to tell) but TB WAS Dr. Who!

The words, Bad Wolf, came back in last weekend's episode, the prelude to this year's season finale..

Enjoy!
