Yeah, the UK entry was chosen by a phone vote. I think that's been the case for the last three years now. And a fantastic job they did of choosing our entries. True cult classics.

I'm loving all the coverage of all these phone vote scams. My dream is for the outcome of all the scandal to result in phone voting to be banned! maybe then we can get back to real telly.

I'm currently lumbered with Britain's Got Talent every bloody day for the next week. And Big Brother #2342 stats soon. Joy.

I loooove being married.

I'm sure we could sue that programme under the Trades Descriptions Act...

I think you might be on to something here! it would be educational as well as entertaining. The Reformation would make for an excellent pan-European game. I can see it now: people dressed in jumbo padded Luther suits, with bungee cords tied around their waists, trying to see how many Theses they can nail to the door of the plywood cathedral before they get twanged back into the lavatory, while giant rubber popes hurl water-filled excommunications at them. (I'm sorry, I've just finished reading Q by "Luther Blisset" and I've got the Reformation on the brain).
Perhaps I should quickly go and patent the idea, before Endemol jumps on it?

Well, it's that time of year again, any other Ooliters going to be tuning in? I haven't heard the UK entry at all this year, so i hope we've gone for something good, anyway, to warm up, lets remind ourselves of that wonderful moment when Germany literally perfected Rock Music back in 1998, still unmatched all these years later...

I watched it, and like Griff, also had not heard our song. When I did, I thought, thats a boring song, no way is that going to win. And I was right. Last place!

how come the UK's 'flashmob dance' bit was so rubbish? everywere else did at least some arm waving and a couple of countries even managed a bit of a dance routine and we just ran down a street like the clubs had just emptied and there was only 5 mins left to get a kebab before the shop shut

We should try and get the band 'Muse' to do it for us next year, something really OTT with guitar solos and an orchestra and cannons being fired and stuff

What I enjoyed most about the whole thing is the way it proved the pointlessness of audition-based shows, and the fact that if picking a Song For Europe is left to the general public - you get dross like that.

We'd have been in with more of a shout by nicking Neil Hannon's "My Lovely Horse"..

Only because we got kicked out in the semis. ;-)

(The next day both major Swedish tabloids had huge headlines about how the Swedish people demanded that Eurovision be taken off the air because it’s all gone to pot anyway. Oh, how I laughed. Laughed with bitter tears at the fundamental stupidity of my species.)
